If anything, I'm gonna assume Miki's family is from Okinawa or Hokkaido, as people in those areas of Japan tend to more easily tan than others.

There used to be a fair number of Basque sailors in Lisbon. Perhaps their descendants, now all supposedly Portuguese, have carried on their name. I suppose it would be obvious that most Basques are concentrated in the old Basque Country.
