I guess here it strikes earlier, and leaves faster. In grade school we always pretended to be spies and warriors and stuff, quite similar to how chu2 presents it (we even kept a notebook with stats) and all our friends thought we were super cool. We became more grounded in 6th grade and i'd say by the time I reached middle school it was all over. But isn't that just having a happy childhood, and not a mental disorder?

It's not a mental disorder

I mean, if there's anyone in Yamaku who still has that going (considering they're in their third year of high school), it would be one hell of a comedy.

Delusions when I was younger?

Hell, I'm 29, and I still pretend I'm using the Force to open automatic doors when I walk through them.

Not sure delusions and pretend are on the same level...But I do that too.

Headcanon: Kenji is a huge Frank Miller fan.

That's Hikikomori, a different kind of syndrome not related chuunibyou which usually starts in middle-school.

although we can argue it's the same, but hikikomori usually 'appear' due to overwhelming social pressure that someone can't cope with to the point it drove them into isolation, sometimes delusions (in Kenji's case, it's rather...odd. At least his reasoning is odd, but it's hillarious nonetheless)

Kenji gives me so much headcanon that an entire novel about him wouldn't do him justice. But I will try anyway. If anyone's interested, I'm attempting that in 'Sakura—The Kenji Saga' over in the fanfic section. I do enjoy new insights to this wonky character whom we sometimes love and hate in equal measure.

Kenji doesn't exist. Its a coping machenism Hisao developed to deal with having to aknowledge being disabled.

Then who knocked Lilly over? Who gave Rin the super-secret password?

Unrelated: When Lego Ideas came about, Kenji once again proposed Dragonball Z Lego sets.

Better question would be: What up with that picnic on the roof? o-o

Kenji is a humorous character and a parody of the attitude of the people on 4chan, but not those who would really be like that in the real life (more specifically Anonymous22, who as much is know is certainly not a NEET)
And hikikomori/NEET/socially isolated people are a product of the society or mental disorders (social anxiety, autism , I 'm not talking about " assburgers " but a significant proportion of the autist become completely antisocial, NEET in the strictest sense, as an adult)
Nobody becomes a true NEET because he is immature, at least I think.
I don't think Kenji is really a parody of such people. (and it wouldn't be funny if it was really the case).

Wat. No. Kenji is just a (realistic) parody of a (Chuunibyou) Japanese Hikki.
