I can't remember how I first found out about it, but I remember playing the demo back when it still had the young looking Yuuko and the even younger looking Emi. Back then Yuuko didn't look any older than the other girls you could pick from, so I wondered how you got her route.

Played it. Liked it. Realized it was a demo and just kinda forgot about it until much later when I heard the finished version was released. At that time, I had just quit a two other forums I usually frequented for various reasons and was looking for a new forum to spend time on. So I'm here. Good for me!

Indirectly, my brother. We got into a discussion one day about Comics and Manga, and, via his direction, we wound up on the topic of Visual Novels. Not having the slightest idea what a Visual Novel was, I Googled it later on and, after some rummaging, I found Katawa Shoujo by accident. At the time (late 2010, i think), the only thing available was the Act 1 preview which I promptly downloaded - seeing as it was free. I finished three of the starter stories (Shizune, Hanako and Lilly) before deciding that I didn't want to spoil the rest until the full release. I bookmarked the page and checked it periodically for updates.

Funny story on that, I hadn't checked it since this past December when someone mentioned KS in a twitch.tv chat room (I think I was watching someone play Zelda while leveling fishing with my Druid in WoW). Not only that, they said the full version was out, so I (almost) immediately checked the bookmark and started downloading the full version.

Does the credit then lie with my brother, google or the nameless chatter who mentioned KS seemingly at random when I happened to be looking away from my fishing bobber?

A butterfly flaps its wings...

I originally heard about it about four or five years ago through several forums talking about a call for contributors. Thought maybe I'd join up as a coder or artist, but when people called it "cripple porn" and when I heard it originated on 4chan, I stayed away thinking how horrible this was going to be. It wasn't until the kotaku article and after that numerous reviews popping up after it had been released saying that this was a masterpiece, that made me rethink my opinion. The images of the 4chan postings about how it broke 4chan finally made me want to read it.

Best decision I ever made.

Found about it on 4chan's /v/.
I did hop onto it with the "hell yeah, hentai"" mindset but I quickly realised (like, in the introduction) that it was far more involved than that.
Now it's become a part of my life, I think.

One of my friends pointed it out to me online. I was skeptical at first, but then I saw ForeverPandering's Hanako song and I knew I had to see what this was about.

A commenter named Serjongo on the Steam forums for "Analogue: A Hate Story" mentioned it in a thread where other VNs were suggested.

I don't remember exactly who did it, but it happened back when the Act 1 demo was first released, in a browser game from which I've since retired.

Having known about it for a longer period of time makes you a better person, and makes the Shoujos love you more >:D

when I think about it now...

KS is becoming very well-known after game magazines after game magazine and game websites after another reviews it and spreads it to a wide range of audiences...

...
...
so, is it wrong of me if I'm crossing my fingers right now hoping some hot-shot animation studio from Japan (say KyoAni) caught wind of this and decides to animate it? It just might happen you know...

I would not mind if KS became the next Touhou :)

Edit: I would love to see a remake of "Marisa stole the precious thing" with Lilly as Marisa, Hanako as Alice, and her dolls as Shanghai and Hourai ;)

Lilly Stole the Precious things...?

What's her 'precious thing'? Hisao?
