I thought they were very well done, especially Aeka's. The moaning was kept to an acceptable amount and there wasn't too much idiotic pillow talk.
I thought the best part was the contrast between how the characters were swept away in intimate scenes but when this part was over the Main character started to doubt and question himself and his companion rather than simply accepting the physical sensation and completely indulging in it.
It reminded me much of my teenage years and made the main cast much more fragile and human.

So... How big is Hisao's cock?

This is important information.

The average hentai male character's penis is about 8 inches, so I'd reckon somewhere around there.

I'm not sure how large his penis would be as i have nothing to base anything on but i think Hypothermia may have a point.
Although i think the order of how large his penis is should not be talked about to avoid pissing people that, although like this game cant stand the thought of another mans penis as they are far to insecure for their own good and will became mad if i try to talk about it. I may be wrong,i hope i am,but i have had to deal with more insecure today than i would like to have, and i dont intend to deal with anymore.
Have a nice day.

...That was not very comprehensible, and I'm much happier for it being so. Anyway, let's move on.

Aura wrote:The discussion around the H scenes warrants the question: What makes a good H scene in a visual novel? Are there examples of well done H scenes?

Talking about the differences between "porn" scenes and something more "sentimental" or "touching" is all well and good, but where does that difference come into play?
What makes a H scene good or not can be split into two criteria: whether it's arousing or not and whether it's believable or not. Arguably you don't need to have both to make a good sex scene but in a project like KS where sex is supposedly supposed to come about through natural means (and why not? Young people, disabled or not, interested in sexual intercourse having established a bond of trust? Preposterous!) you do need both.

What you don't need is an overflowing of emotion to make it good, you should be aiming for realism here, not necessarily for tears. You should attempt to honestly capture the feelings of a couple engaging in sex for the first time, their insecurities and lust laid bare, fighting each other. Though you are welcome to leave out embarrassing premature ejaculation and erection dysfunction. Oh, wait, maybe not in Hisao's case.

But this is just my opinion. I favour realism and largely don't enjoy most VN H scenes on anything more than an erotic level.

If a story can make me fall in love with a character, fap to their sex scenes, and cry bittersweet tears when they disappear into thin air, then I can safely say that that story has had a profound effect on me and that I consider it a masterpiece.

No points for guessing what VN I'm referring to.

It depends on how the writers want the couple (or harem for those moments where it's appropriate) to develop.

I mean, if the couple care about each other and trust one another, they'll be making love as opposed to out-and-out fucking, correct? Will the scene show a playful side of the couple? Will it show tenderness? Or will there be an element which is supposed to creep us out (think Kenji path)?

When it comes to Emi, I suppose I see her being more playful and/or also considerate since she's fully aware in her route what Hisao is dealing with. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how these girls each deal with a potentially lethal tryst with their leading man. :)

Honestly, I do not mind embarassing stuff when concerning sex for the first time. I am old enough to admit that sex for the first time is a rather awkward and embarassing thing for both parties. It is also discomforting for the female part and not only the first minutes but moreso the second and third time tend to be a little bit painful for the woman (at least that is the impression I get).
If we are aiming for realism then we should consider Hisao's stamina - his sexual prowess seems somewhat limited so 2 to 5 minutes should be the maximum for him - even if he takes it slowly considering his disability.
Reachimg climax together is also something that is extremely unlikely at least without some weeks of practice.

Nicely phrased!
However I do disagree with the message of the post a tiny bit. I do not need to feel the need to release my reproductive fluids to consider an eroge some sort of masterpiece. Sometimes the serenity and the atmosphere of a story coupled with my own immersion into its depths make me not even thinking about taking a break from reading in order to masturbate.
If a story makes you forget yourself and your innermost carnal desires even despite its portrayal of such things and manages to give you some sort of inspiration or satisfaction on a deeper level seeing the characters progressing and enduring their hardships in life and acting upon their joy in their existence - now that is what I would call a masterpiece.

Judging from previous experience, I'd say it's something that would put a horse to shame.

Yes but the point is you want to read it five times? Because if Hisao is like, 'Oh God, how did this get here? I am not good with condom,' in one virginity losing sex scene there's little reason to believe he won't do the same thing in the rest of them with the other girls. And while I do support realism I recognise that these fumblings aren't entirely necessary to repeat over and over again and thus can be culled or condensed into other minor nervous failings and feelings.

So yeah, include some embarrassing mistakes that happen during any first time sexual encounter just as long as it's not erectile dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, erectile dysfunction. You know, just mix things up a little bit, make sure you're not all writing the same sex scene and create some variety. That said I would like to see erectile dysfunction come into play at least once as long as it leads to that sorely neglected thing called foreplay and perhaps some mutual masturbation.
