Naturally, this one was well-written, but I was not really a huge fan of it. Of course, this comes from the guy who dislikes those fanservice bathhouse chapters you get in every certain manga and anime series. I don't think it's an entirely wrong parallel, even though the medium is obviously different. Looking back, I said that the fic reminded me of "Murphy's Law," and my thoughts on that haven't changed.

The premise is absolutely ridiculous, and it's supposed to be, but it didn't really work for me. I have trouble reconciling the idea that all of the girls could be in-character, and yet collectively do something so... *tries to think of a synonym for 'ridiculous'* er, whacky. The humor was definitely there, though. I laughed out loud. But the multiple endings struck me as kind of weird, even for a fic like this. They were strangely arbitrary; I had no idea where each individual option might lead, since the choices seemed kind of insignificant. Though again, that might have been intentional.

I enjoyed the pacing and the wackiness. It's the KS-oriented version of the MojoVerse — an entertaining romp that has nothing at all to do with, and doesn't give a damn about, being in character with the rest of the KS canon. Good fun, but at some point, over-the-top in the way some sitcom finales go…

To be fair, the Hanako-shopping ending and the revenge ending conflict, especially with it being her idea.

I did d'aww a bit at the Hanako ending, though. And, I lol'd at the Shanghai ending, both Yuuko's "Welcome to theohmygodno" and Rin solving the issue for everyone (and Hanako's reaction).

I feel kind of bad that, twice now, a fic of Oddball's has come up and I feel like I don't have anything of value to offer by way of discussion. I will say that I have gotten more laughs from Oddball's overall body of work than any other author on these boards. The guy has a knack for writing comedy, no question. I believe I've also mentioned my weakness for farce as a genre, and this is also the single best KS-related farce I've read. Yes, there were a number of what I'd consider OOC moments, but I'm a lot more willing to overlook those when it's a story that doesn't take itself seriously like this one.

So, good fun, but not something I really want to look at too closely for fear of spoiling my own enjoyment of it.

This is one of the first KS fanfics I've read, and still one of my favorites. It's a nice relaxing piece that let's one enjoy a lighter take on Yamaku.

That said, I did find this...
"I'm not good saying the things that I feel I want to say when I think them. I thought maybe Japanese was a bad language for that, so I've studied other ones. I know that hand wavy thing, French, and some Russian." She pauses long enough to take another drink. "It really hasn't helped. It just gave me another way to not know how to not be able to say what I think. I want to learn to speak the one they write with pictures on pyramids. I think I'd be good at that."
...to be a bit bittersweet. I can also easily see Rin being a polyglot (given her ease in using backwardese in the VN).

Does anyone have an idea for the next topic for discussion?

I suppose we should discuss where this is all going, reading ALL OF THE FICS is great, but it gets to be monotonous, at least I think so, and seeing as this thing is still rather new, we can be flexible, what would everyone like to see?

Do you have something in mind?

I mean, any discussion regarding a fanfic can be as dynamic as the commenters make it. I don't think it has to be monotonous.

My only suggestion is that we should try and avoid covering similar ground for a while. For instance, we've had Misha, we've had Miki, we've had Rin, we've had Hanako (sort of), so perhaps our next fic should avoid those characters as main characters. I'm also thinking something short to come back to after this mini-break. I would therefore like to suggest:

I'm all for it. That iconic piece of woodwork? Ah, such feels.

Alright, we'll lead off with that when we come back then. I'm planning to slot it for around April 22nd, unless comrade will be around because I'm going to see family for the weekend and shall be unavailable.

Meanwhile, what do you guys think about the recent published fanfiction?

I guess your referring to "Steel"? If so, I wasn't a big fan. I'm not big on OCs in the first place(though they can certainly work if done right), and the fact that the girl who he is talking to in the beginning is poorly introduced didn't help. I'll give it a chance to get better, but it's off to a pretty rough start.

I comment on it in their individual topics, as their still active.

In the sense of the most recently completed pieces?
