Dude. Carrying around a condom is actually a fairly common thing.
Especially if your High School's Sex Ed class was able to drill it into your skull.

Also, while Hisao's written to be an idiot sometimes, I think he's sensible enough to know that a condom would be a convenience, especially in a relationship such as his.
