Back on track, I wonder if learning from a computer like Deep Blue would make Hanako more comfortable.
I don't remember Hisao being an asshole much in either route...

And I think she'd be fine with that.

On the subject, I reckon that she hasn't been playing for a very long time. I cannot imagine who her chess opponents would have been during her orphanage years. And yes, I agree with the opinion that Hanako doesn't have that competitive streak.

No wonder her anxiety increased.

So much win in this statement.

It just reinforces my headcanon that she can take on several grandmasters simultaneously.

I just realised that I put a chess opening in a Hisao x Hanako chess game here.

Guess what opening was being played? :D

I do believe Bobby Fischer has a very aggressive play style, and not just on the board itself.

True, but Bobby Fischer is beyond grandmaster level. He's fucking insanely good at chess.

I wouldn't imagine she could play against grandmasters live due to her anxiety. It'd either be correspondence or over the internetz.

I can take on several grandmasters simultaneously. I'll lose to all of them, but I can take them on!
NB: none of the above is a request

I thought it was appropriate. And Kenji would have approved too. :)

I only see that Knights are involved. Can't make the Kenji connection.
