Inspired by brythain's recent post over on my story thread...

The soul is oft uplifted
The Emi when she flies
The fury of her countenance
Can take you by surprise
The life within you surges
You watch her make her turn
Forever feel the radiance
The fire within you burn

Hisao Tries To Write To His Wife

For Shizune Hakamichi

We’re old now and your slender fingers
Touch me tenderly but are gnarly
I forget and whisper in your ears
You laugh because my breath is tickly

You’ve trapped me again now that I’m weak
No more your young man lean and healing
But the old survivor past his peak
Above whose battered chest you’re kneeling

And all I can think of is those pads
Yellow squares of paper everywhere
They followed us along many roads
Companions in joy and in despair

Your eyes are still like lakes, still, like lakes
I look at you looking and you blush
Why? Are we too old for what it takes
To kindle our fires from this ash?

I reach out not for you, but for them
Open the drawer, show you the words
[Hello] first, of many hellos then,
Then everything, like a flight of birds.

=====

My dearest Shizune, I still can't write poetry worth a damn. But because it's you, I tried.
Especially since you dared me to and said I couldn't. Ha! All my love, Hisao. (2060, May 6)

Very nice. It's cool to see that this topic hasn't died in my absence, and seeing one for Shizune is good because she tends to get left out sometimes.

Moving on, more poems. I'll admit, these weren't written specifically for KS, but I think the ones I've picked out here apply enough to the general cast that readers should be able to relate them to Yamaku.

A couple for Act 1 Hisao:

-To Be-

To behold
To be held
To be holding

Warmth emanating

To be within
To be without
To be withheld

Cold piercing

To be empty
To be wandering
To be lost

-Give Me A Reason-

Give me a reason
not to swallow the entire bottle's worth;
not to go over the falls
or take a step out the window

And give me a reason
not to stay in bed and starve;
not to go under and stay under
or tie the knot and drop

And hey, (while you're at it)
Give me a reason not to stab my own heart
or at the hearts of others
until they gather en mass and beat me down
and restrain me
and snuff out my life
Like the hypocrite fucks that they are

Do that for me-
and I will be eternally grateful, love

From the other side of the fourth wall:

-Friends I'll Never And Have Always Known-

They've been by my side, longer than I can remember.

Some have come and gone, and others have persisted in my
Imagination
But as a whole, they are
Constant
Loyal, even.

I think of them always;
when i am lonely
when i am scared
when i hurt
when i need somebody to love and nobody is there
They are always there for me
But they are never there, except
in my head.

I wish that, just once-
For maybe five minutes,
I could see them,
Standing before me in the broad daylight
So that I can know them as real
And I could tell them how much they mean to me
And feel their warmth on my skin,
in the little bit of Soul that I still believe in-
or Hope for, maybe.

Alas, it will not be, nor can it ever.
Yet, part of me feels it already is, even if it isn't.
They are my only companions in the Darkest Nights,
and sometimes they are all i need to keep from allowing my mind to reflect Them.

I have no regrets. This one's for Emi.

-The Sexiest Love Poem Of All Time-

You set my slicked-up weeny ablaze and make it real hard,
I wanna stick my turgid dick in you and twist it like a glass shard
I'll get ultra hot like a red-ringed XBox
And then get down on the ground
For a better look at your socks
After which I'll pop the Pringles in your poopy pizza pocket
And blast off like a jet, or maybe Team Rocket
I'll make you feel special, that's a sure thing,
When I bee-boppity boop your bodacious buggaboo-

Like, badaboom, badabing.

I started writing this one with the goal of it being dream-based in mind. The KS part just sort of crept in after:

-Hope For A Wonderful Dream-

Hopefully tonight
I'll dream of that place
The one place I truly want to be
Across the sea
In Japan
School for the unfortunate-
Crippled, they call them;
Love, I call her
And there, we'll spend the entirety of the dream
Hand in imaginary hand
And everything will be just fine
until i wake up
But really, that's such a long time
Away
From where I am now

So tonight I lie down,
Close my eyes and
Hope
For the Best.

Gold

Hisao, what colour’s gold?

It is your hair in the sunset,
Your warmth under my hand;
It is the beating of your heart.

I think I understand.

Lilly Satou, I hope I do.

That’s my line, Nakai-san,
My, you’re a poet too!

With you, my clumsy words take flight
My voice needs to tell you
The meaning of the things of light.

Well, I think I know what gold is,
It is something we share
When you and I touch lips and kiss…

That is poetry there.

[Giggles.]

But what is it you hold?

It’s something of that kind:
Cold metal in my fist, made warm…
Satou-san, would you mind?

Ah. Hmm.

[Struggles.]

Of all the things I thought you’d bring…
Is this not rather bold,
Nakai-san, is this not… a ring?

Lilly Satou, to have, to hold;
This is diamond
And this
Is gold.

My dad told me, "Son, you're becoming a slob.
Get off that computer and look for a job."
The reason I can't find a job now and then
Is due to my phobias from this VN.

I can't be a runner and win spending cash
(Though I do hold records in Katawa Crash).
My heart would give out sometime during the race
And a grimace of death would be seen on my face.

Some work as a roofer seemed not a bad gig
But I found its demands most unreasonably big.
Looking off of the roof or imagining climbs
Took me back to that picnic in festival times.

I thought about selling artistic endeavors
But I'm better at operating buttons and levers
In some farfetched factory, for this is my dread:
One fuckup and Nomiya'd take off my head.

I all but gave up on my fruitless job hunt
And felt like a useless and sad-mannered...guy.
But fear not, you poor and assumption-prone boob,
I found this position at a place that makes lube.

Im new to the forums, so pardon me if this isnt put in the right place, but I figure since its poetry that the fan fic works just fine. Also not sure how to imbed things here!

Written by yours truly. After finally piecing my life together after playing KS a week ago, I finally found a way to give back to the community. I put a lot of thought and effort into this one after putting my creative writing hobby on hiatus. After a year and a half, I found a muse, and boy what a muse she is. Its all written in iambic pentameter with a lot of care directed towards word choice and using my storytelling skills to make it accessible to non KS readers. I would love to hear any feedback you guys have so I can improve! Also inspired by the fan fic of "first comes love". Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

Would it be possible to post just the text of the poem? The print is too small for me to read within the image. As for where to post this, there's actually a separate poetry thread in the parent "Fan Works" forum.

A Crucible of Love
By Michael A. Goldberg

A dash, a fall, a broken heart off-beat
A plead to stay to sweep the blind girl’s feet
A veil of dark, a failure to connect
He reaped the fruit of ill conceived neglect

A blip, a beep, an arithmetic sound
A signal that the boy was still around
A sigh implied despair consumed the mind
He feared his love had left his soul behind

A box, a click, a song came pouring out
A gold haired girl assuaged all of his doubt
A pair of blue shone brighter than the sun
He held her head and two returned to one

A word, a tear, a promise to believe
A vow, a kiss, a hope to never leave
A pair entranced by future, hand in hand
He swore that he would meet her love’s demand

A day, a month, a year their love endured
A trip up North is what the boy ensured
A cottage where their love had first arose
He bent the knee and started to propose

A gasp, a “yes”, a stream of tears began
A promise to stand by the broken man
A heart once crippled was reborn anew
He swore his heart would now belong to two

A cup, a glass, a clinking of the rings
A gold haired angel born without her wings
A love reciprocated through and through
He cherished her and whispered,
“I love you”

Its meant to be background resolution, but I can see how it might be a pain
