Lilly's Route (SPOILERS)
Re: Lilly's Route (SPOILERS)
The most disappointing thing about Lilly's path? My man Jigoro never made an appearance I think he shouts at you from behind the door when you ring their door at some time late at night, but Hideaki is the one who answer. Jigoro is so manly he could've carried Hisao to the airport faster than the cab and probably beat Lilly to the airport.
Also, you should read his autobiography.

Yes, just what we need to set the right mood for the dramatic airport chase upon which the relationship hangs...a cartoon character with a katana yelling about his autobiography.
Sisterhood: True Edition. Hanako epilogue I wrote. Now expanded with additional chapters.
Re: Lilly's Route (SPOILERS)
This explains Lilly's bow. She's a feminist spy who uses butterspies to listen to the enemies (Kenji).

Re: Lilly's Route (SPOILERS)
Possibly.Still, I think my main idea as for why Lilly did what she did is pretty possible. And would make MUCH more sense than going "NEVER LEAVE ME!!" then leaving herself for no good reason like everyone seems to believe.
Whether this qualifies as a good reason is still arguable, though.

Re: Lilly's Route (SPOILERS)
Very YES. However:EyesOfLilly wrote:Lilly confessed to Hisao because she knew it was her chance to do so, and if she did not she probably never would get the chance to again. The reasoning behind this is because Lilly wanted to live her life in Japan to the fullest while she still could and perhaps maybe even find something in Japan to stay there (namely Hisao).
So close, but. If you look at what Lilly says carefully, she never actually says she's made a decision when she finally does tell him about it. She just gives some weak reasons why it would be ok if she did. And then Hisao just sort of assumes it's all a fait accompli and more or less gives up — he never really even tells her he wants her to stay, right up to the mad dash to the airport. Freakin' Hisao.by that point Lilly had finally decided to leave and it was too late to do anything about it. Although Hisao tries to get her to stay, he still doesn't show any initiative to try showing her why she should stay. It's not until Lilly actually leaves for Scotland that he finally shows initiative to try and get her to stay.

Re: Lilly's Route (SPOILERS)
The end bit of Lilly's route still terrifies me, just because I really love Lilly and just knowing what would have happened had Hisao been me. And I kind of want to expand on that a little so I hope you don't mind me doing that and I really hope this somehow fuels more discussion about Lilly and her route, mostly because I really do enjoy reading people's takes on those things, but also just because I don't want to be that guy who kills a thread like this by talking about himself.
It's been a while, but if I recall correctly, Hisao confronts Lilly about the whole Scotland thing over a cup of tea or something and Lilly's like "Hisao, I'm going to fucking Scotland" and Hisao just goes "Well gosh, ok." and pitches the idea of a long distance relationship even though both of them know that wouldn't work, and then - assuming you're on your way to the good end - Hisao is laying in bed or something and has this huge revelation where he's like "Oh shit, Lilly didn't actually want to go to Scotland she just thought she was being a burden to me and was waiting for me to speak up and say 'Please don't go to Scotland, I love you', oh man, oh god, oh man, I have to go to the airport!" and we all remember what happens from that point.
But anyways, what I'm trying to get to is that - and again, this is if I recall correctly - when Lilly tells Hisao she's going to Scotland she seems pretty damn set, like you can tell she's just mulled everything over and she's decided, y'know? And I remember thinking that she must have truly considered everything, and that's she's just decided to leave Hisao, for whatever reason, maybe she didn't take the relationship as seriously as she had thought, whatever, and so considering that she's made her decision about that, as much as it hurts, and as much resentment I would have knowing she would throw away the relationship like that, I wouldn't beg her to stay, especially because I love her, I wouldn't want her to live the rest of her life knowing that leaving had hurt me badly, that's the sort of burden that's possible to keep to yourself, and that's what I'd want to do, if that makes sense.
And yeah it's a dumb self insertion daydream sort of thing that I've entertained way too much but that just kind of stings, the fact that I would have gotten Lilly's bad end, and the fact that I would have never known she just thought she was being a burden.
Anyways, I kind of delved into sleepiness halfway though this so maybe the latter half doesn't make sense or maybe I've added absolutely nothing to the conversation, but that's just something I wanted to talk about, so I did.

You do remember correctly, and I would have acted the same way - I hope.if I recall correctly - when Lilly tells Hisao she's going to Scotland she seems pretty damn set, like you can tell she's just mulled everything over and she's decided, y'know? I'm not one to get angry easily, but I'm not sure I could have kept a few bitter comments to myself...
That's just one interpretation. An alternative one would be that she was just too afraid/well-raised to seriously consider saying "no" to her parent's request.Hisao is laying in bed or something and has this huge revelation where he's like "Oh shit, Lilly didn't actually want to go to Scotland she just thought she was being a burden to me and was waiting for me to speak up

I would have gotten Lilly's bad ending too, although I would be less angry about her going to Scotland than the fact that she didn't tell me about such an important thing.

Re: Lilly's Route (SPOILERS)
I'd have spoken up and failing that, I'd have a few choice comments about what a doormat she is for her parents. She'd either come to her senses or it'd make a more interesting teatime.

Re: Lilly's Route (SPOILERS)
This is more correct than you seem to understand later on. More below.Magnenntae wrote:Hisao just goes "Well gosh, ok."
In fact it's Lilly who pitches that.and pitches the idea of a long distance relationship even though both of them know that wouldn't work
I don't think you are remembering correctly; however, to be fair to you, I find a lot of people miss this even when they have the text in front of them. In fact, Lilly doesn't tell Hisao she has decided. She just drops a few reasons why it would be ok for her to go, then she waits for his reaction. Which, as you correctly remembered at the very top of your post, is just dully moving on with the assumption that it's a total done deal. At no point up till that last-minute dash to the airport does he ever so much as say he wants her to stay.again, this is if I recall correctly - when Lilly tells Hisao she's going to Scotland she seems pretty damn set, like you can tell she's just mulled everything over and she's decided, y'know?
In my mind, she would have said yes in an instant if only he'd expressed that. But his blasé acceptance spoke louder to her than anything else could, and she figured Hisao just wasn't that into her. It's a case of being too subtle on her part ("How do you feel about this?" would have cleared it all up, I think), but it's also a case of not speaking up on his part ("I don't want you to go!" would also have done the trick).
As in (almost?) all the mistakes made in all the routes, the blame is shared.
