i live in ny. i see pretty much no conventions, unless its because i dont bother looking too much into it. just like rin, i cant be bothered to think too much into it and end up just staying home and go on 4chan. atleast people there i can relate to, to some extent.

and if i do go to places with anime/video game people, they are a bit too fast paced or hyper. it feels like they are trying to be boxxy just a bit too much. and thats a bit creepy in my opinion. thats actually why i never attended anime club in high school much. the amount of times i went would be under 10 times for sure.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of anime and stuff were popular at these clubs? I've never gone to one and was considering checking the one at my uni out.

i dont mind answering questions.

the popular stuff is usually DDR and fighting games like soul calibur, atleast thats what it was back then years ago. and it was one of the first DDR games, back with all the cool songs, not this autotuned hipster crap. i think it was DDR MAX 2.

oh yea, and the occasional perverted youth talking about hentai. and they usually have a movie night. or they would start roleplaying, which gets even more weird for me.

I guess it couldn't hurt. Maybe I'm just scared of the thought of socialising with strangers.

thats the beauty of the internet though! talking to complete strangers on 4chan, omegle, chatroulette, etc etc etc. hell i remember the old days of aol chat rooms when you would get random people talking to you.

of course, real life is a bit different, but theres nothing to worry about it really. whats the worst that will happen, they will look at you oddly? you are allowed to do the same then. eye for an eye.

go to the anime club at your uni. check what its like. you dont even have to talk. if someone asks what you are doing, say you are interested and might want to be a dedicated member, but want to see whats going on first. just like in persona 4, before picking a club, you can visit to see what its like and later make a decision.

Haha ok ok you've convinced me :P. School taught me to avoid socialising with real life people. Uni is much better though.

Side note, what's persona 4 like? I just bought golden for vita and I've never played any persona game before.

i can give you the history lesson on Shin Megami Tensei right now, my boy

persona is basically your typical jrpg, but has feels in it too. like at on part that is. it also has multiple endings, with is all made depending on the choices made later on in the game. and the choices are all in one section. i believe the game will even mention something along the lines of "this is a very important part of the game. we STRONGLY RECOMMEND saving your game RIGHT NOW" or something like that.

the story is that you are souji seta, or yu nakamura if you go by the name in the anime and persona 4 arena, i prefer former though, and you move into inaba with your uncle and his daughter. while on the way there by train, you have a bad dream where someone starts telling you that your life is about to change and your destiny shall be realized and such. the whole game is divided into 2 sections, which they each effect one another in some degree. there is the high school and outside social life where you talk to people, hang out with total strangers who start to get attached to you over time, and then theres the dungeon crawling section. as you progress through the story, more dungeons unlock along with characters. you use personas to fight shadows. the whole game is strongly based on jung psychology of persona and shadow.

the game got high marks from when it first came out on ps2, and the vita version is updated much more with more things to do and the story gets further developed, along with more personas, characters, and you even get to mix the difficulty, damage, and reward as you see fit.

Sounds pretty freaking sweet. I do love my jrpgs, kingdom hearts is my favourite game of all time. I think I'll play some tonight :-)

Nope. The story was already finished in the original game. Any "development" in Golden is just a BS padding trick/BS retcon.

And that, in a nutshell, is why "enhanced remakes" are really damn stupid.

Also, that was a history lesson on Persona, not Shin Megami Tensei. :P

Know how you feel, I had the same experiences as every one here. Loved the character and story, got really attached and now here I am. I think its a credit to the game or movie/TV show, if you get that attached. Better to love and lost than to never have loved at all, eh? Really enjoyed reading the original post and replies, made me feel more than a dude sitting at his computer.

On the other hand, due to my life experiences leading to extremely stunted social and emotional capabilities, I subconsciously became very unhealthily dependent on the one I lost which probably magnified the pain by a few thousand orders of magnitude, so I may be biased...Still hasn't gone away.

That sounds depressing :(, you have my confidence that you will recover. You only live once, just bring vengeance down with an Iron hammer!
