I don't consider a community more alive, just because there's random crap flying around all day long. I tend to rate communities by the amount of members posting daily and the amount of on-topic threads/messages per day. Anyone can fake activeness by turning a forum into a chatroom.
Well. KS forum have sluggish rate of people registration dues to Katawa Shoujo being unknown to most and bad impression it's give, and I personally don't sure if there is KS chatroom. But KS is having small number of worldwide user. So I guess make people talks about random thing even they are far from each other is not a bad thing.

I consider it an admirable quality myself. It means there's less clutter for me to sift through every time I visit while looking for stuff that's worth replying to.
My internet post number is important to me. But so is my internet dignity.
EDIT: I don't thinks it is worth another post. I might like to see sudden influx of people into HBHC and Feels bazaar and seeing Xanatos give a box of chocolate to each of them. But maybe not after it.

There is the IRC, but no one ever start a conversation there. I left the IRC on for a day and it was just absolutely barren, considering that there's alot of users online in the IRC.

Damn, so many people talking without knowing... I guess it's to be expected in an internet forum to some degree but... Damn.
However, there are some valid points raised, which i would like to address:
Gee, with that much clue you might as well just say the name. Just means he's more engaged in the community no?
Post count or constant activity does not equal actual contribution to the forum. Also, A forum member's post deserves better than this.
I wonder how sad and pathetic your life must be for you to stalk other memebers' post-per-day ratio. I'd like to refrain from using the term "butthurt" here, but(t)...
It's pretty understandable you would find him as butthurt or bitter, sedinus, since you weren't around the forums a bunch of months ago. But please understand that for many of us, the current state of affairs is a very saddening or unpleasant one, since we feel that we had the place we used to talk about KS taken from us by constant spamming and off-topicness. It doesn't help that the spammers act as if the other people are the ones in the wrong or that this is their right, and the fact there is already a forum for this. The fact most people don't take their off-topic banter (which by itself isn't really bad, it's only when it dissuades actual discussion that it bothers me) really feel like a slap in the face to me or this forum. So while he might have been a little rude, i can understand why he posted what he did.
pandaphil wrote:Or perhaps some members are simply enthusiastic about KS, and enjoy talking with and spending time with people who feel the same.
Again, i think this is worth repeating: Go to the HBHC forum.
@Auratus: The term "shitposting" exists for a reason.

I thought that the HBHC was specifically for either people with a troubled past (big or small) and want to talk about it, and those who want to provide feedback and comfort to those people?

Nobody has to stalk anything. All you have to do is click the members name and it' shows how many times they post per day in their profile.
You post 1.46 times a day.
Mirage GSM posts 2.91 times a day.
pandaphil posts 19.26 times a day.
I post 2.95.

The TOPIC is for that, but some posters have started an entire FORUM which is far more open to just randomness, chat, and spamming.

Wish someone had brought this up sooner before I suddenly became the bad guy who's ruining the forum.
I thought I was doing okay managing to stay on the subject of KS in my posts, since that's why we're here.
Hmmm, I wonder how the board calculates that number?

If it's more complicated than [# of posts] ÷ [# of days as a member], then I don't know.
Seems like we've got different views bouncing back and forth. All of them are relatively spot-on. I'd say more, but everything I'd say's been said. Don't want this to turn into a second 'Things That Annoy You' thread.

Holy shit. That's way too much posting. That guy needs to quit that. Seriously, what a prick. I hope he dies.

Well, he's not entirely wrong. I just don't see the point of avoiding the name if you're going to make it on-the-nose obvious anyway.
As for the forum in a nutshell...
"You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Just don't have gross mishathighs and you can be the better person. Anal, chocolate, bacon, lemons, rape. Adorable pictures. Tits and asses."

Though I've never posted in there, I've actually always loved the Hanako's Broken Heart Club; it was one of the things that convinced me to register for the forums, in fact. I think it's rather moving just how easily and automatically a bunch of strangers can open up to each other ('Strangers' because the thread was opened shortly after KS' full-fledged release, which is what drew most of the current regulars here) and be so unashamedly earnest. It's a thread that's capable of reaffirming my faith in humanity for a bit, simply because the people in there show such an abundance of what I consider good traits (deep, thoughtful, honest, nurturing, the list goes on). It's about the epitome of a feel-good thread.
As for the spamming, yeah, it's gotten to be too much. It just starts becoming white noise after a while, and most of the people who engage in it I like enough that I would be interested in reading something more substantial from them rather than just one-liners.

Nah, you're a good member, don't worry. I think Oddball was just picking out a few completely random people. Mirage hasn't even posted in this thread.

Well then if random posting is an issue why not just make an area for it? Out of curiosity. Was considering opening a small section called "Ilithandie's Tavern". Just a small place that you could introduce yourself and "shoot the shit" as it were. (I personally would have some small RPing in it if possible. Just adding a physical description as well as actions, however not a KS Role Play. Just ... us. As we are. ) I do not know if that is appealing to anyone. Just an idea. Figured since people are arguing about off-topic posting here I would toss this one in here.
If this is cool I will make it. I would rather not type up a big description of the place and then have it closed. Or worse, not used.

The mods (Silentcook) say no.
