No she is mute as in can't physically produce most sounds humans usually can. She couldn't speak audibly, even with practice (like many deaf people could). It's been changed around half a dozen times too, since in practice there is very little difference.

oh! very interesting. Would you care to elaborate about this? I have very little medical knowledge. Is that a common phenomenon? I sometimes hear people referring to others as "deaf-mute", is that a combined condition? What causes it?
