But seriously, I don't think Rin has a mental problem at all its just the way she is. I can't wait to hear the backstory from her lips though, it's one of my most anticipated ones, along with Hanako's and finding out if Misha has a darn disability or not...

Was about to disagree until I read 'potentially'. A lotta 'not normal' people are in straightjackets.

She definitely doesn't follow the norm, though, which is the best type of people there are. I get bored of normal stuff quite easily, maybe that's why I like some anime and maybe that's why as my like for some characters are slowing their rise or decreasing slowly, Rin's is going up at a steady pace.

Pondering your own potential eccentricity is actually a very normal and boring thing to do.

I don't get all the she's not crazy she's just different talk. That is pretty much what mental problems are. In fact that is the definition - being sufficiently different that it hampers your ability to live a normal life.

Rin regularly doesn't respond to questions, wanders off and loses track of what she is doing, is unable to hold a proper conversation flow, and fell asleep outside on one occasion. That falls under the category of mild mental problems, given it seems to affect her constantly. If you cannot correctly interact with other people and understand what they expect of you it hampers your ability to relate to others. I mean I like her and all, lol so randum etc but in real life this would be just sad.

And that is what they did to the homosexuals years ago. To say as you do is to admit that you side in that case+i think your directing things towards me per my most recent comment.
"What is normal?" That is the question I see Rin currently pondering. Some people think i'm weird, and i'm okay with that for I think the same thing about them in cases. I have personally had my fair share of instances, i'm not going to go into them, which would associate myself with Rin. Remember that we are only seeing a part of her. Also, for a fact, I know a guy more like Rin than me. Some actually have thought of him as having a mental problem but I see past any of that. In fact, he is one of the only friends I have left from high school.
If the Devs write it as though she has a mental problem then I will accept it but I will never have anyone tell me that she must based on how she acts. The mind is an interesting thing to ponder and do the pondering. I have thought about many things like that and to me it is only a sign of finding who you truly are. I am still on that search myself, until the next time. *poof*

Cool! Now if we could only agree on a definition of a "normal life".

Meh, I refuse to acknowledge hearing stupid or annoying things said to me all the time and also know plenty of other people who do the same. Behaving like this is generally thought to be more polite than punching the people saying foolish things in the nose.
The other behaviors listed above I'd call annoying or eccentric, but at the level displayed by Rin not in the least either insane or signs of retardation. Of course, everyone who plays Rin's path will form their own opinion and there will probably be as many opinions as there are people playing.

Define "normal life" lol. She's not THAT different then others to classify her as a cracknut. I don't see her running around naked yelling that she's a banana or suddenly snap and attack someone out of the blue or anything like that, classified in the psychologist books as "being insane".
And how cannot she live a normal life, I wonder? She would be considered weird, yes. but hell not insane as if "insane-so-must-be-sent-to-crazyville" like.
Trust me, she's actually probably more normal then a lot of people you and I know.

Not insane as in "a menace to society that has to be locked up for her on good" insane, I just thought that maybe at some points she sorts of crosses some invisible line between "just" weird and "actually kind of creepy". But, many of you claim to be like that in real life. And I won't risk defining myself as a normal person, seeing as I am currently posting on a forum dedicated to what can be called a "cripple porn computer game", so I guess it's really more a case of "you can't help it, we are all mad".

Hmmm, I'd say the one thing that disconcerts most of the characters who come into contact with Rin in KS is that Rin really doesn't have much of a "shut up filter" between her brain and her mouth. Rin casually exposes much more of her inner thought process to everyone than they are accustomed to and that makes for uncomfortable situations for some people. You can call it "crossing the line to creepy-ville" if you want, but I'd never call it "riding 1st class on the Crazy Train".

Introspection really does make some people uncomfortable and they don't even like being around others who do it. (*shrug* I've never found thinking to be a deadly pathogen but I've met some people in the past who acted as if it is.)
