Re: So, that new Yuuko.
I love the freckles and the new art style. It's just the hair and that grandma's nightgown she's wearing that really bother me.
Re: So, that new Yuuko.
Everyone is entitled to their own! Though some thigns you said kind of bothered me.Caesius wrote:I get the feeling that my opinion doesn't really mean anything if it's not positive.
Like, "It even looks greasy, like she hasn't showered. Her eyes are tilted too much and look "sad."" is kind of a strange comment, since in her old sprite the eyes are also sad looking, and nearly the same aside from stylistic differences. And what's wrong with a plain hairstyle? I think of it more like realistic, sometimes it's those types that are refreshing in eroge style. I can see what you're saying about the glasses though, and the dress might take the longest to fully grow on me.
Re: So, that new Yuuko.
I was the first person to have strong negative criticism besides "I just don't like it" and I'm immediately hit with image macros. It's ridiculous.
Anyway, regarding her eyes, it may just be an illusion because she no longer has bangs, but they're definitely smaller which may contribute somewhat. Her hair definitely seems greasy to me though, and the fact that she has a lazy "just woke up, don't wanna do anything with my hair" look reinforces that. I agree that it's more realistic compared to what she had before, but by no means is it more attractive (or at least, that's my opinion).
I'm not really attracted to geeky/nerdy girls, especially when they don't care for their looks or hygiene.

Re: So, that new Yuuko.
I disagree. You made a sound argument, newYuuko and newEmi's style may look rather different when put side to side. It does happen with newEmi and Rin already, but it appears that newYuuko looks just too good when compared to the rest. That's why I still think that a paintjob to at least some of the characters may have to be done.Caesius wrote:I get the feeling that my opinion doesn't really mean anything if it's not positive.

I made mine independent of viewing your post, so don't worry~I'm immediately hit with image macros.
But yeah opinions everywhere.
Personally I think the smaller eyes are an improvement, and her face has overall more shape and personality compared to the old one, which was rather stock-anime looking and kinda bland. Both are adorable though, just in their own ways. I fell in love with Yuuko's original design right away and the new one had the same effect. I wanna take her home and have lunch or something

Sorry, that was intended as more of a playful nudge than a hit. Opinions are like assholes: not only does everybody have one, but they're all useful, too.Caesius wrote:I was the first person to have strong negative criticism besides "I just don't like it" and I'm immediately hit with image macros. Hmm... Well, at first I didn't like newEmi. But I adore her now.
Now I don't like new Yuuko. Erm... Maybe it will change too.

I think you meant to say "Everybody has one, and most of them stink."Csihar wrote: Sorry, that was intended as more of a playful nudge than a hit. Opinions are like assholes: not only does everybody have one, but they're all useful, too.
As for this conversation I have nothing of any value to add.

Re: So, that new Yuuko.
Well, if you match Yuuko with the library background she fits in perfectly, but that's probably wrong at the first place, because she is a character, not some furniture to decorate a room. You could observe a slight but noticeable difference between Lily and Yuuko in that picture as well. If they indeed decide to use this Yuuko as the final sprite they're probably going to need at least a repaint of every character sprite we have here.
Of course, it could be argued that every character carries with their own distinguishable aura or something but in my opinion at least give a harder edge line for Yuuko because I see Yuuko = background.

The new Yuuko is fine, but I just noticed that when you put the pink-skinned Yuuko next to Lilly, Lilly looks like she has jaundice or something.

what, you can't find a use for your asshole? *runs*cpl_crud wrote:I think you meant to say "Everybody has one, and most of them stink."Csihar wrote: Sorry, that was intended as more of a playful nudge than a hit. seriously, though, I dig Yuuko's new look. someone mentioned in the blog comments that she actually looks older now, and that's a good thing - when I first met her in-game, I thought she wasn't much older than the students, and it's better this way, so it doesn't seem like she's only eighteen or something like that. the way she acts seems a lot more like someone who's still overwhelmed by the world even though they've been out in it for a while. the new dress is okay, but it seems like the kind of thing she'd think was appropriate for the library, and the hair seems less ridiculous (forehead ftw!). I think some of the stuff that Caesius said is true, but I think Yuuko's the kind of person who might just push her hair behind her ears and go to work, or maybe she didn't have time to do anything with it.
and I know the devs said they wouldn't do any more new sprites, but I do kinda hope for some small upgrades as the game goes on and gets closer to being done. I don't think the girls should all look the same, or like they were all done by the same person, but they shouldn't be so majorly different that they look funny together.
then again, real people sometimes look funny together. so that's okay too.

Emi = Hanako > Lilly > Rin >>>>>>> Shizune
amazing how preference changes now that the game's actually out.
Akira/Hanako for the win. Meiko/Nurse for even more win. Miki/Misha for win that goes BEYOND THE IMPOSSIBLE.

Re: So, that new Yuuko.
Also, why are her forearms such wildly different lengths in each of the screenshots? If they're the same, there is a serious mishap going on with perspective in the waitress sprite.Caesius wrote:It's not just the dress (which is ugly), but the hair and face as well. It's just an awful, boring, lazy hairstyle; I hate how she has her hair tucked behind her mouse ears. It even looks greasy, like she hasn't showered. Her eyes are tilted too much and look "sad." Glasses have an identity crisis, like they're supposed to be both hipster (thick arms) and classy (half-frameless). It's like Kamifish did his best to remove everything that made Yuuko genuinely cute and just tried to make her look like a geek with boobs.
Rather than making the librarian look even more like a typical librarian (the line seen in Csihar's screenshot always ticked me off in a game that's not supposed to emphasize the connection between physical traits and hobby/profession), the sprite upgraders' changers' time would be better spent making Misha not look as idiotic as she acts.
Re: So, that new Yuuko.
Some people just have bad fashion sense. Yuuko with her ugly dress is one of them.
Not knocking the sprite, it is much improved over the last one. I find her face cuter now; the other was... I don't know, sorta featureless.
