It's crazy, next thing you know we will see a pic of a dog in a striped scarf ranting about the feline consiracy.

And then we've got the pet-maniacs that are Hanako fans.
I've got the torch, all I need is a doe with long black hair...

Out if shear boredom i looked into the whole hair drill thing and this is what i found out.
Drill hair is nothing new, its been often used to hint towards the characters personality. Apparently depending on the length of the 'hair drill' determines the character(s) behavior and tendencies.
(confused? Well don't feel bad, i was too the first time i read the explanation)
Anime 'Drill-hair' comes in many different varieties. Some of them are rather large and seem to weigh more than the person bearing them. While some of them are smaller, almost like tightly spun locks.
*Smaller Dril-hair usually point towards a dollish cuteness, with a certain innocence and childishness.
*Middle-sized Drill-hair(like Misha's), when about shoulder length, usually points the character towards tsundere territory. Sometimes even called 'Tsundere-drills'
*Big (and thin) drills makes the character usually lean towards royalty.(sometimes referred to 'Princess curls') Or at least appear as such. This character has taken care of there hair and saved it for a very long time.
*Really big hair drills, (usually larger than the characters forearm) are often seen in hentai and other erotic material.
On the rare occasion, a character will have numerous drills.

Thank you Snicket, that was quite informative, since my only knowledge about anime drill hair stemmed from the tv tropes article about princess curls.
