I think what it shows is that people are similarly distributed in terms of glass half-full/empty no matter what their circumstances are. Still as human as any other kind.

I've gotta say, I can see where this is coming from.
One thing that always niggles at me is when someone tries to tell an '
Inspirational' story about someone who is relatively normal.
"Ooh look, this person has one leg, but still ran the marathon!"
I'd hate to be the cynic and I know iit's probably not my place to talk, but surely that's not really
too special. Having a handicap is one thing, but it doesn't immediately make everything they do amazing.
I kinda get the feeling people do it to make themselves look like nicer people, to have the capacity to support those who aren't perfect. Like, they stand up and announce "I FULLY SUPPORT THIS CAUSE" so people admire their kindness, whether or not the cause in question really need all the support in the first place.
When I admitted I was Bi, I had a bunch of people jump up and support me as if it was a humongous deal. People left, right and center were being extra caring and basically changed around me, people were being super sensitive about by sexuality and everything. I appreciated the fact that they cared, but I can't help but feel It was unnecessary.

No. Never. How dare anybody ever be
inspired by others, that's just AWFUL!
@Munch:
What do you call a gay drive by? A fruit roll-up!
Why are most politicans in the closet or gay? Because they can only mandate.
Why is Katie Holmes divorcing Tom Cruise? Apparently, he's been in A Few Good Men.
At a family get-together, a boy announced to his homophobic parents that he had gay pride.
The parents were very angry and began to berate their son. Then a group of homosexual lions ate them.

I can see it if the "inspiration" is that the person lives an ordinary daily life. But not for, say, doing some spectacular athletic thing. "Hell, I
got both my legs, and I ain't
never run a marathon!" That's valid.
"Ooh look, this person has one leg, but still ran the marathon!"

I'm kind of amazed by able-bodied people who run marathons, never mind disabled people!
When I admitted I was Bi, I had a bunch of people jump up and support me as if it was a humongous deal.
Probably depends on the culture where you are. Maybe they perceived it to be a brave move because they know a lot of homophobes and were somewhat fearful for your treatment by them.

People may act weird because you're bi.
I say fuck 'em all.
