And for that matter; what the hell is the Shimmie section ?
Shimmie is an art repository for KS fanart. You can't log in because shimmie user accounts are created only for curating/administrating the gallery, so very few people need them.

Did the developers feel like they were morally obligated to include the FAQ regarding "the feels", an explanation of it, and how to properly direct those feelings in a constructive way naturally or were they asked to or did someone outside the team suggest that idea ?

...there's no mention of feels in the FAQ?
Do you perhaps mean the stickied post ProfAllister wrote? He or she is not a dev, just a normal forumite. The post is nice so I thought I'd sticky it. I felt no moral obligation to do it, it just genuinely is informative and well made.

I was just wondering if the developers felt like their game was so emotionally charged that they needed to address that themselves but thanks for clarifying things.
We didn't think it was that emotionally charged at all, or at least
I didn't. The response to the finished product (and even the demo) was somewhat unexpected.

What works do the devs get "the feels" from?

Honestly, I still don't know what that even means.
Are "feels" different from being regularly emotionally touched by something? If not, I've gotten "feels" from thousands of works. If "feels" is some special class of emotional impact, like a category 5 emotion hurricane, then probably none.
Urbandictionary seems to think that my latter interpretation is closer to correct:

I believe this is the vein we're mining here. Intensity varies, but it need not mean utter consumption; just persistent and possibly enjoyable despite not necessarily being based purely in the positive (e.g. happiness, yes, but also melancholy and the like).
So: anything that particularly stands out in your mind?

Why are you all using a different term for it then? Anyway, off the top of my head, nothing really special comes to mind. I mean, almost everything that's well enough made to sell itself to me can elicit some sort of emotional response. I could go over my library and look for stuff I thought had touching bits, but that wouldn't be very spontaneous.
I guess Narcissu could be my go-to answer. Or I don't know, "Lassie Come Home"

I can pretty much put on Lord of the Rings at any moment and enjoy it. Does that mean it gives me the feels? Let's go with "yes."
Other things I can pretty much always pick up and watch/read/play/listen to: Operation Doomsday (especially Doomsday), Powertrip, The Hobbit (film or book), Mass Effect 1, Icewind Dale, Fallout 3, The Midnight Organ Fight, The Mouse and the Mask, Enter the Wu-Tang Clan, Sell Out (because HIGH SCHOOL NOSTALGIA), Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the film or the book. UNDERRATED FILM, BY THE WAY), um..
Whatever that's enough.

Hi devs, I want to ask, who (among the devs) designed the game icon, (you know, the heart with a band-aid)?
I find it is really catchy and fits the game very well.
Also, could you guys tell a little bit of the story behind it?

The guy who made it isn't with us anymore, in fact he left already back in 2008 and the logo is the only lasting contribution he made for KS. I agree it's a very good design. There's not much of a story that I can remember, though. He just drew it and everyone thought it was nice.

Hello there, don't really post here much but i question occurred to me when I was reading through the archives about various stories of KS touching people and helping them out in ways I can't Imagine.
My question is this: Has the rate at which KS has spread and been played surprised you? Not sure if that's the right way to phrase that but in a long sense: Has the game done better that all of you thought it would, both on the internet and through the forms via fan fics and art? Its truly incredible all the people I've seen and talked to here and all that it's done for them, had you foreseen this?
That was probably the longest possible way to ask there question but there it is.

It has. Before we had anything out, we didn't think too many people would care about KS. However, the Act 1 release turned out to pretty popular. People thought it was good and it gave us some indication of our popularity and a morale boost for working on the rest of the novel. So we kinda knew that the full game release would be big, just not how big. Even so, it exceeded our expectations in every possible way. Even in our most optimistic dreams we severely underestimated how widely it spread, how big an impact it made and how lasting and enthusiastic the fanbase would be.

Or to put it another way: "holy shit what are you kidding me".
And I'm still wondering what kind of splash we'll make with the JP translation.

Do you have any sort of stats indicating how many people have downloaded the game? (And if so, how many?)
