GET OUTTA MY POOL YOU SCHWAG!

Was running once at 95 degrees. Would be rather okay, if not those pesky pests, insects and flies driving into my goddamn eyes, mouth and nostrils. Fuck them.

Tried to run listening to Animals as Leaders. Don't do that. Just don't. Running music is as important as shoes are. I almost died there.
Haha, that's music you sit down to, shut the world out, and then just continue to be amazed by for the duration :P Running... nah, no chance! I got Pyrrhon's new album a few days ago, I suspect it's the same case (they're similar to Ulcerate).

Looks like we've got a storm brewing here. Might try and get out there afterwards, the humidity drop should be beautiful :)

Good thing I had to get up early today, because the high is supposed to be 81 F.

So, is it weird that I lost count of my laps, did an extra one, and feel completely normal? Because I'm having a hard time coming to grips with it myself.

Nah I do that pretty often with swimming. When I do 30 laps straight without stopping I usually forget how many laps I have done and do an extra 2 or 4 laps. I think it just shows that perhaps you have to start increasing the amount of laps you do. Go back to pushing your limits.

I've entered the time where I have to get up at 6:30 so I don't overheat during my runs. Seriously. The high today is 104F, and it was over 70 when I left at 8! Darn you, Central Valley heat...
Did another 15/3/15 today. Maybe it's because I got more distracted than usual, or maybe because I switched up my music a bit, but I wasn't dying nearly as much as before. Psychology is a funny thing.

Ok so today I've had my first run. Tho I want to ask how did you guys do your first run/jog whatever (if you did already then idk, try telling me the shorter version cause 171pages to read is kinda much)

After a bit of informative searching, i tried going for the tips on posture, how to breath and so on
Since it was my first run, i pretty much halfassed most of them tho i always kept forgetting to do one thing or another

Also before running/jogging (i know they're not the same), i did a ~8minute warmup, then a bit of stretching (i looked it up and 60% said you can stretch a bit before a run if you did an easy warmup, the other 40% just said no stretching before running/jogging but said nothing of warmup so yeah)and stretching after the run which is normal i guess.

What i intended to do is this
  • Run with straight back (not hard)
  • Run without hopping (this was hard cause i kept doing it and notice it after a bit, hard to concentrate on alot of things while running)
  • Aproximate about how much to run and how much to walk and intervals (not that hard)
  • Breathing trough stomach not chest (first time doing it like this so it wasnt exactly easy)
  • Breath in 3 seconds, breath out in 2 second (was also really hard)
  • Try breathing in on one foot, and breathing out on the other (for sustaining a rythm)
  • Listening to music in the background (meh)
  • A frikking dog........(not fun, also have dog phobia, not for all tho)
  • Not running too fast and overexert myself (not that hard)
hmm i think that's all, maybe i'm trying to hard, i dont know but yeah, it's hard doing all of those at the same time. any tips would be apreciated :)

also is the 100 emi pushup guide only after you've "finished" the running thing or can do at the same time?

Hahaha, well you've certainly put the effort into researching this :P The stretching and warmup were good, and the things about breathing they really do help - the timings don't have to be an exact science, it's more focused on you controlling your breathing :)

A dog? xD I have NEVER run with a dog!

The other things I would look at are clothing. What did you run in yesterday? (Jeans are fine at the start, but over distance have a tendency to rub). Footwear is particularly important, you need something that has a bit of give in the sole and won't rub anywhere.

EDIT: And don't forget enthusiasm! :D Good luck!

And nope, you can do both at the same time! I really should do at the moment, since I've taken up longer distance running my arms have gotten weaker :/

Lol...not WITH a dog...but INTO a dog..dogs scare me especially when they look at you very focused....:(
i had a tshirt and those type of 3quarter pants,, between shorts and normal pants(idk the english term) and some snickers tho they are kind of old so right at the end they started rubbing a toe and made a tiny blister:P and thanks:D

Did my first charity run thing today, was a 5k thing a few miles away from where I lived. Did it in about 22 minutes, and out of 400-ish people I was apparently in the top 40, so I'm dead chuffed with that! Raised a load of money too, which was nice :D

Cool beans. How'd you feel at the finish?

My first thought was 'that was pretty easy', to be honest :P That gave way to me thinking that 4 months ago, that would never have happened - hell, I couldn't run for 2 minutes, let alone at any pace.

Started work a couple of weeks ago, and I've not been able to run most days (I work in a care home, and it takes it out of you!), but I think this has given me some motivation to try and get some regular runs in again. I'd run back from work, if I didn't have to start obscenely early most days.

I found it really really easy. I was still sweating at the end of it but that was mostly due to the heat and humidity rather than exhaustion. I think the first 2 weeks or so is just for people to get used to the running scheme.
I have stopped for a while though because of exams :( Fortunately I have finished the majority of them so I should be able to start again soon.

If I'm going on one 20 minutes or longer, I usually bring along some water with me. Then I do some stretches - tends to be about 5 minutes worth, I've learnt that I need that much else my ankles just kill! After that, I decide on my route - having an idea how long you're running is helpful too, but if you do laps then it's easier I suppose. Then I do the run - not starting too quickly is difficult, but important, else you'll wear yourself out too easily and then that's that. Regardless of distance, about 2/3 of the way through I have to focus on my breathing more, and then when the run stops I usually sit down, down the rest of my water, and then walk whatever remains of the route back to my house, stretching as I go :)

most sources tell me it's not good to stretch before a run because your muscles are cold and can damage stuff(after it's recommended tho), anyway how long have you been running? and how long has been since your last run?:)

You want to stretch prior to a run, but rather than static stretching, which is just stuff like leaning over and touching your toes and holding the stretch, you want to do dynamic stretches. This includes drills like high knees, butt kicks, A and B skips and lunges. This also includes normal stretches, but with more movement. For example, if you're doing a quad stretch, rather than holding it for ten seconds, you want to grab your leg, hold the stretch for a couple of seconds, release, and then repeat, maybe for a total of ten times. This movement is what keeps you from overextending and allows you to warm up rather than hurt yourself.

If you want, I can provide a full list of stretches that I got from my coach.
