I didnt know of KS nor its hype when I first saw it through a youtuber. To think I was initially not even interested in some random game he decided to play , I'm glad I watched it.XcaaaL wrote:No. It may not have even been the hype that put me off. Nobody cares about hype. Everyone is affected by it anyway, whether that be via curiosity or being too sick of hearing about something to even bother with it. Though I'd never have considered anything surrounding KS close to "hype".Zarys wrote:I am the only one who don't cares about hype ? Well... TV Tropes did a pretty good job getting my hopes appropriately high up before I played, so that could be considered a sort of hype.Khalego wrote:Nobody cares about hype. 'Hype' is just a construct, a term used by people who can't be bothered to further analyse the social communications that establish expectations for a given phenomenon. Too troublesome, these days, to use long-form thinking for anything—buzzwords, soundbites, TL;DR, etc. We're not influenced by 'hype'. We're influenced by influences, different ones for different people, from different sources. If we use 'hype' as a catchall term, so be it; like 'nice', 'very' and the British Empire, 'hype' has lost its original meaning and found a greatly-diminished role.SpunkySix wrote:Well... Screw hype, the only reason I'm here is because I was offered a free game for finishing one route.

Re: Types of emotional reactions to KS
After finishing the game I was really really depressed, a few weeks have passed now and still from time to time I get really sad, the game really hit me.
I never ever cry, not with movies, games etc (not even in real life)but there was one scene that made me cry a little, the part when you are in the hospital and lilly put the music box on the room
Lilly was my first route and after that I only managed to finish hanako's route but I had to uninstall, I know if I keep playing it I will get depress again, someday maybe I will finish all the remain girls arcs but not for now and even if I can play it it doesnt feel right, I think I fell in love with lilly

Hello and welcome to the forums!
Yeah, that happens to a lot of people. I can't listen to Sarabande now without tearing up.

While not overly feelsy, I do like Concord for its lounginess and regal yet mellow atmosphere. It's very neutral, and I like listening to it sometimes just for the fun of itnotanymore wrote:Thanks for the welcomeParagonTerminus wrote:Welcome to Club Katawa, where everyone has an unhealthy worship of fictional chicks with disabilities.notanymore wrote:After finishing the game I was really really depressed, a few weeks have passed now and still from time to time I get really sad, the game really hit me.

I don't think it has. Hype does still pretty much mean possibly-misleading flimflammery intended to get you excited about a thing.brythain wrote:'hype' has lost its original meaning and found a greatly-diminished role.

From 'excessive or misleading publicity or advertising' to 'possibly-misleading social spam' is a downgrade of sorts. But in this age of multi-platform self-inflicted community spamming, yes, it gets excessive pretty quickly.Atario wrote:I don't think it has. I think it's a combination of things, actually the song is not that sad but it gets me everytime, just as wiosma does(the main manu theme I think) those 2 themes are the best ones (for me at least)ParagonTerminus wrote: While not overly feelsy, I do like Concord for its lounginess and regal yet mellow atmosphere. Re: Types of emotional reactions to KS
I'm pretty sure it was mostly the music that made me break down and cry.
Emotions have always been a complex concept for me, and I've always had a hard time expressing my feelings, but when I hear a good piece of music, I have one of 2 reactions. I either tap my everything to the beat and sing aloud, or I cry silently. It doesn't even have to be a sad song to bring tears to my eyes, (For example, I don't even know). it just has to be a beautifully crafted piece of music. in this case, 'Innocence' - preferably when played during Hanako's good end - made me bawl my eyes out.
I'm sure the writing had an effect on me as well, but to this day, every time I hear 'Innocence', my heart tightens.
