I guess the writers figured that having him do stuff would just stretch the story out unnecessarily. But it does make him seem a bit boring.
The fact that Hisao leads a rather empty and isolated life and seems to be rather uncertain of where he wants to lead his life is a major theme in his story arc, and the VN proper.
He's a lot like me when it comes to this.

I can relate to him in that way as well, indeed.
Unfortunately, possibilities for happiness or human support are not as accessible in my life as it was for Hisao in Yamaku. Not to diminish all the kindness and effort that eventually make him the person of the good ends, of course, but it's just kind of a shame that i'll never get to live such beauty and happiness.
By the way, in response to the post i generally quoted, i wouldn't really find Hisao boring. He could be rather dense or frustrating at times, though.

Same. It feel like I've just drifted through my whole life without any kind of focus. I envy the people who knew what they wanted early in life and went for it.

I envy people with friends.

They could at least let him do morning runs with Emi in the other stories. It wouldn't hurt the romance with the others. I hate how he avoids exercise in the other arcs.
To be fair, it was his first and only year at the school. It would be pretty hard to reach the same level of a social life that he had beforehand, especially due to the uniquity of Yamaku. So it's understandable that he wouldn't expand his social circle too far outside of the girl he chooses and her friend.

This^
I'm probably one of the most anti-social people in my grade. Outside a small group of friends that I chose early on

Some good points Creedkeeper. Thanks.
Started reading the fanfic "Sisterhood". It seems to adress some of my complaints. I'm only in Chapter 2 though, so we'll see.
@ Otakuninja: I hear ya brother. I have my share of internet aquaintences, but my one really close friend works during the day, so I really don't have anyone to hang out with. I didn't have anyone when I was in school, and I worked evening jobs after I graduated, so I've very rarely had a chance to just go and hang out with people.

At times, I do too. But most of the time, I really don't. I have a good amount of friends, but I choose not to spend time with them. I'm at such a high level of anti-socialism, that I don't even want to do anything for my birthday other then just sit in my house and draw. I was invited to a laser tag place a few weeks back, and I preferred to stay at home and avoid any social contact what-so-ever.
Also, after my last relationship, I haven't made a single effort to find love. I just feel like love is pointless right now. It will just get in the way. It's kinda sad that I think that way, but I do.

Sisterhood is a solid fic. Great mix of canon events and originals, with its own touch.

Thanks for reminding me to finish that fanfic. I stopped at Chapter 15 because it was 3 in the morning, but with 2 chapters left, hopefully tonight I'll have it completed

I think the reason for that is because you don't really get to know Yuuko all that well in any of the storylines. Yeah she gives you advice and stuff but, you don't really get connected with her. You know what I mean?
