I'm unfortunately very literal-minded. It's a curse. Like locusts but with less destroying all the crops.
Xanatos is the plague of the forum lol
Your firstborn son will explode. You have been warned.
@pandaphil: Actually, animals are very capable of judging you. Make a habit of kicking a dog in the face, it'll judge you as a jerk. They're just a lot fairer in their judgements.

And I know what you mean Jobriq, I'm like that with dogs, cats, and pretty much all other animals. Pretty funny really how good I am with animals when I generally suck with people.
Well, animals don't judge you or hide their feelings behind polite words. Or screw you for their own benefit.
True, that and they're appreciative of attention and care, which is rare among humans.
And Xan way to kill the mood.

Well then, hopefully I have many daughters... and one will be injured in the explosion that kills me and her mother and her first brother and she'll end up like Hanako.

I'm like that. You learn to build that skill when unsure of people. Watching facial features makes it easier to read their true intentions more than their voice will ever show.

You need both body language and tone for best results.

As soon as I read the title of the page I thought, "Wait, is this a real life Hanako?", even when it was obvious that it was something much sadder and worse, being real and all.

What if Hanako was more like this poor girl? Would you still like her?

I would. As a sidenote, I applaud her courage and selflessness.

Liking someone isn't based on appearance but personality. We don't know that girl's personality so that question is difficult to answer. And even based on the physical, it's tricky because (if she survives) she's likely to get surgeries and such so the appearance given there isn't a solid basis upon which to pass judgement.
However, running on the iffy premise that what's shown will just be the way she is for good...Yeah. I'd like Hanako fine if she looked like that. I couldn't get romantically attached because for all the talk of "it's the inside that counts", there is a physical element to romance and I have a very extreme aversion to getting physical with a blackened earless person (we don't get to pick our aversions, unfortunately). But just plain liking her, supporting her, being a friend. Why not? I see no reason to dislike someone just because they had a bad day with a fire.

Wow! My guess is she'll need skin grafts, from other people even, if that's even possible. I hope and pray she survives.

It's possible, and yes she will receive them. To stop infections after leaving the clean room, if for nothing else. I hope so as well.

lolshitaku.
Not saying that the story is fake in any manner, but i haven't heard very flattering things regarding kotaku's journalistic integrity, so i would recommend you guys to "keep on your guard" so to say.
In any case, really sad story and i feel bad for such a brave and kind girl. The doctor is really wonderful for having helped them beyond his duty. I'm not sure what happened to the mother, but i hope she's alright and that (along with the father) they can help the girl with life in the future.
