I think it just stands out because it is a mild violation of what TvTropes calls the "One Steve Limit", i.e. the convention that in fiction characters tend to have the same or very similar names only when there is a good reason for it although it happens all the time in real life.

Similar pronunciations, not similar Kanji.
Half the kanji is alike. Similar enough. I call conspiracy.
