btw. ~子 is a term often used in Japanese names, means ~boy(girl) or ~child.

it could also mean 'little' or 'young', like 子猫 (koneko) means 'little kitten'

Do the KS team use those kanji for Emi's name? It's rather unorthodox, usually I see it written as "beautiful blessing" or something to that effect (the Japanese equivalent of naming someone "Faith" or "Grace" or "Angel").

yes, 笑美's the kanji. though I personally see it as 笑み("emi")＋美("mi" or "bi")

I glad the Japanese version of character page is usable once again, I thought I can't reach for it, and It's pain to find Kanji version of girl's name.
It also pretty irony that Rin have a "hand" in her kanji name.

Oh, that's where people are getting these spellings.

So 笑美 Emi = beautiful smile, 静音 Shizune = Quiet Sound, 琳 RIn = Jewel (they could have used 淋 meaning "lonely"), 久夫 Hisao = Man with a long life (HA HA), 昭夫 Akio = bright man (Mutou just transliterates as "warrior creeper-plant"). Pretty clever, 4LS. The rest are pretty run-of-the-mill, though.
