It's emphasized even more in the 'Focus' video for the game.
I wasn't aware it was such a prominent part of the game's history until now though.
Whoa. Why have I not seen this trailer before? Either way it's awesome, and has a really nostalgic feel to it.

Makes you wonder if Raita woud had gotten a team to work on KS back in 2001.
Somehow, I'm kinda relieved that didn't happen. Maybe I'm too cynical, but I can't help but feel that if that had been the case KS probably would have turned out to be everything its jump-to-conclusions-detractors said it was going to be.

Still, very awesome for the devs, so congratulations.

Yeah probably. Certain things on that page certainly imply that it was supposed to be a cripple porn fap material. Or at best, a generic romance VN with cripple porn material. I don't really have anything against the existence of that other than the fact Katawa Shoujo as we know it wouldn't have been made.

Nonetheless, it's very nice of him to thank the devs on his own homepage even if he waited a while for the hype to fade away. Congratulations devs.

This is quite a good point. Most of us probably wouldn't be here to celebrate this occasion if ever.

Interestingly, he doesn't say anything about the VN itself. He just praises the dedication of the Dev team...
Three possibilities:

1. He didn't read it yet. (no idea how good his English is)
2. He didn't like it, but is too polite to say so.
3. He just doesn't want to comment on that for some reason.

Personally, I think he had someone translate for him.

That explains the last two songs in the OST I couldn't find used anywhere! Haha, thank you!

Actually, a shortened version of Spin is used in the 4LS identification sequence when you start the game up. =o Focus, on the other hand, seems to be exclusive to this video.

I can see that, but I'd like to imagine that "... leading me to closely watch over the progress being made from the very early stages" implies that he gave it more than just a passing interest...

True, but he still doesn't speak much English, if at all.

If you look at his web page and go through his twitter feed, he thanks http://twitter.com/dankanemitsu for the translation of his remarks on KS (on July 11), and it took him about two hours to update his page, since it was last updated about 10 years ago (bitrot...)

He could still follow progress pretty well by just looking at the English blog, checking the Japanese team's blog, and he could have played Act 1 in Japanese months ago. But since he can't read English, he can't really give an opinion of the final version yet.

Still, how could he not be happy with the results even if he couldn't play the final version? How many people can say that something they sketched for a quick, porn-y gag turned into an emotional experience for many people? I'd be honored if I were him.
After all he could have stayed silent for the whole time, and then he said those beautiful words.
Again, congrats to the devs!
