It took me a few minutes to figure out why that sounded so familiar. I haven't thought about that one in years.
I feel kind bad for copying it now, even if I didn't realize what I was doing.

Nah, you switched it around and made it your own. Call it an homage.

That's what I thought of as well.

I think I'll do that.
I had just read a story about Hanako being a singer and was wondering what other small character details I could expand into a full story when I remembered Hisao asking her when she was going to learn to drive.
... I still have some serious egg on my face from this one.

...But why?
That was very well done. At first I was sure that Hisao was the taxi driver and not Hanako, and when it was revealed that it was the other way around I had to go back and read things over again, haha. I initially thought it was a strange job for her of all people to end up in, but I really like the idea of Hanako's bad end giving her a sort of strength inside at the cost of her friendship with Lilly and Hisao. A good read, thank you.

I wanted a happy ending.
Where is my happy ending?
Well written though, my hat's off to you.
But that was a happy ending. By never seeing him again she didn't have to watch him drop dead from his inevitable heart attack.

Hoo boy. Reminds me of 5cm/s. God I didn't want to remember that. First anime that gave me the feels.
Well-done, OP. Well done.

I hoped not identifying the narrator at first would throw people off a bit. Glad to see it worked.

You should fix that! It's a very good bittersweet slice-of-life anime about finding and losing love. Same director as
The Place Promised in our Early Days and
Voices of a Distant Star.

Didn't like it. He made it bittersweet just for the heck of it.
Even though they supposedly like each other, they spend excactly NO effort to stay in contact. Hard to feel bad for them...
The place promised in our early days is a great movie, though!

I think that was the exact point of the anime, though - to make superconcentrated liquid bittersweet. God that gave me all the feels, especially as I watched it just after I broke up on a long-distance relationship (see HBHC).

Twelve years ago? and they both are still alone??
Damn...
Then that just further proves that they're destined to be together.
Nice writing though, except the plot since you defy what God has planned.
