I heard the sex scenes kinda takes away the emotion and it feels unnatural to the story, making them feel unneecessary.

Your source probably confused KS with...like...most other VNs out there, or simply didn't play past the first act.

Surprisingly, most of the sex scenes actually add to the story (emotions, etc.)

People's initial reaction of KS is always "that cripple porn", "oh, you mean the weird eroge about disabled girls?".

Katawa Shoujo is really a mature romance, with interactivity of course. Sex is not intended as the focus of the visual novel and it shouldn't be.

If you miss that scene out, you'll end up just scratching your head as to what happened when you get to adulthood (the last scene in Hanako's good ending).

Keep the H scenes turned on.

Let's just say I know that some people are just squeamish about that stuff and couldn't see a well-integrated into the plot sex scene because they think, "OOH, high school students having sex! It can't be anything but pure, fetishistic porn for ephebophiles!!" or "Emi was made to cater to sick pedophiles, so this anime/game/whatever is a piece of illegal shit that should be banned by US law"!!!

I've seen them lurking in the internet and can only hope that they're the vocal minority.

If someone is squimish about the human body, clothed or unclothed, then KS is probably not for them to begin with. I definatley agree that the eroge scenes are an integral part of the story, they are tastefully done, and you would miss a big part if they were skipped.

Like others have said, leave them on, they do contain some story elements and character development you'll miss if you disable them. They're really not much to be worried about, only one scene is explicit by showing insertion, the rest of them don't show you any more that you see in a typical R-rated movie. Enough you know what's going on but leaving out the details.

Don't turn them off....skip through them if you want. Personally the music and the images fit together perfectly and make it an emotional experience. It isn't meant to turn you on...it's meant to give you the feels!

I've read plenty of books and seen plenty of movies where the sex scene is jarring, gratuitous, totally tacked on. I actually stopped reading some books because of it. Likewise movies where for no good reason there's suddenly a sex bit completely out of context.


KS has them as part of the story. Turning them off is doing yourself a disservice.

No need to turn it off, you prob won't get it anyways
