If somebody found a way to overcome the interactivity differences (not sure how to put it better) of each medium - the game and the anime - it would be great, although if there was a way to make choices in animes, there probably wouldn't be a need for VNs. Also, they'd become disgustingly rich. Other than that, I don't see a way that would make people choose exclusively the anime.

I think it would kinda be like the Kyou and Tomoyo episodes from Clannad where it's like an alternative reality with different relationships. Something like that could work really well, even though it might be hard.

I'm thinking more of an Amagami SS-esque type.
A few episodes for one girl.

The problem i see with it (besides the fact that its liscensed so making an anime is illegal) is that various paths have many different choices. Would a certain choice be "canon" then? Cause that kind of defeats the purpose of KS being a story you choose, instead just being a book with pictures.

I don't think KS will be made into an anime but I wouldn't be surprised if some outfit tries to cash in on it's popularity with an anime having an amazingly similar premise.

Given what the developers themselves have stated here on these forums, and the difficulty in adapting a "choose your own story" type of medium, I just don't see it happening.
That said, I like to imagine how it might play out in my head. Maybe there would be an on again, off again kind of relationship between Hisao and Shizune, perhaps a love-triangle drama with Misha. Minor romantic arcs with Lilly before she leaves the country, Emi which falls apart after some commitment issues, and perhaps deep but purely platonic friendships with Rin and Hanako because they're both incredibly interesting characters as well.

True. Most VN adaptations suck especially if the VN had multiple routes. The only reason why some like Clannad work is because they have a definitive "true" route. That is the route that most people care about and the route the VN makers put the most work in. The other routes are fluff compared to the Nagisa route and After Story, so they can be cut out without too much fuss and the non-VN audience none the wiser. It just won't work with Katawa Shoujo since there is no true route, and there is no consensus whatsoever on what is the best route.

Okay, I'm far from an expert, but I think it's near impossible that there will ever be an anime adaption, and that has nothing whatsoever to do with the difficulty of making "faithful" or "good" adaption. The problem is the philosphy behind most adaptions.
An anime adaption is usually meant to make money through marketing synergy: mostly that means: anime dvd/blu-ray/broadcast; soundtrack dvds/j-pop dvds (opending and endings; insert songs + character songs that aren't included in the anime), source material (which is usually either a manga, game or light novel; if it's not a manga, a manga might be developed simultaneously; even anime original stuff has a synergy strategy - which happened when they planned Madoka Magica which was always anime + spin-off manga), and merchandise (which may include stuff I really wouldn't want to see, like body pillows...).
Anime alone often doesn't make enough money to merit the investment.
Now take in account that Katawa Shoujo is a non-profit venture, and you'll see that to make an anime adaption a studio would have to take a non-traditional approach to the adaption. (There are other possibilities; say if someone like Gibli would show interest, but - er - I sort of doubt that any of really big mainstream movie houses that can also count on movie tickets would show interest).
Finally, I find it highly unlikely that anyone in Japan would want to keep the name "Katawa Shoujo"; especially not if they envisage TV-broadcast as the main exposure route.
An independent demo-production is your best bet, I think. Anyone who knows more about the Japanese anime industry than I do feel free to correct me. But I'm pretty sure there won't ever be a KS-anime, because 4LS won't shop it, and Japan sees no profit. I just don't see any avenues in which something like this is likely to happenIt's fun to speculate who would do it, and how it would turn out. But don't get your hopes up.

yep..can't agree more. If KS will be adapted into anime, it better goes with Amagami SS-style. A few episodes for each character, with their own timeline and storyline without affecting another character.
Well, cant say it is impossible, but we all knew that the title of this game itself receive quite a number of negative critics from the Japanese community. So if KS will ever be adapted into an anime, I think the title will somehow be changed.
Pardon my foolishness, if any.

An anime sounds fantastic. Many visual novels have had anime adaptations.
..But is Katawa Shoujo remotely popular in Japan? It seems like an international/western thing.

even if the adaptation became possible, it's still gonna take years until we can finally see it~

another thing you have to consider ... that no one mentioned yet ... if you keep true to the ks story there is the whole sex scenes thing ( which in most cases it drives the story ) ... so if you keep the sex scenes it would be hentai not anime , if you don't you lose an important part of the story for each character Hanako and Misha wouldn't be the same character without the sex scenes imo ( not sure if that needed a spoiler tag but just in case

In that case there are ways to show sex scene without showing it....O.o.....ok, it's like in school days, when Sekai and Makoto are in the roof "training" you me see some eroticism, but not actual "sex" but you know that it happens
