Steps 8 & 9 here:
"8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others."
So yes, it is a part of the traditional 12 step programs.
To the OP, I think your reply was a good one.
Hopefully she can move on from it as you have.

It could also be a part of some sort of religious conversion.
