<!Suriko> man, that accent thread on the forums
<!cpl_crud> Yeah
<!cpl_crud> I hate
<!cpl_crud> really, really hate
<!cpl_crud> people who say kansai is a Southern Accent
<!cpl_crud> I always think that it's more like people talking in a relaxed manner
<!cpl_crud> the Kyuushu dailects are more like a southern drawl.
<!cpl_crud> Like kumamoto-ben
Also Lilly is "Yuri" in Japanese.
Yuri is "Lesbian" in Nerd.

Something that occurred to me... I'm pretty sure the game script has no mention of any sort of accent on any character. Why does TvTropes have information that in the light of the actual product seems to be blatantly incorrect?

Wait... TvTropes can be wrong?! Oh god. My life will never be the same again.
So... many... hours.
So
many.

Actually we (Japanese TL team) translated Akira's lines in standard Japanese accent.
So it's kinda too late to fix.
Hey we were never told she speaks Kansai...

I don't know who added that (the page history would show that), but the information is cited as "word of god," which would imply the info traces back to a dev. I read through Akira's scene before posting, and her manner of speech is quite different from her sister's, but that wouldn't necessarily mean a Kansai accent.
It's also interesting that you would write "
seems to be blatantly incorrect," as you presumably know if it IS incorrect or not...
If I have inadvertently stumbled across an important plot point, have Emi put on her dark glasses and hold up a pen we're all supposed to look at.

I doubt every writer has every scene in KS memorized. They are all working on different paths.

I want my Lilly hetero!
And Akira switches to Kansai when Hivemind is writing, then goes Osaka as Aura writes and goes regular at crud.
(I wonder if this wicked joke would go on the net and be believed as canon Oo)

Akira is actually also a female Scottish name. A fact that i'm
sure hoping is totally coincidental.

That's the Anglicised spelling of Acair so it doesn't count if you ask me.

Fair point. Yet she could have changed from 'Acair' to 'Akira' upon moving to Japan for the convenience of native speakers.

Don't see how it's more convenient. It's practically a different name. Also just need to point out, Acair is a boy's name. Or my brother has a very girly name. One of the two.

I would've thought it would be more convenient, seeing as Acair would be difficult to write in Japanese, and, if it is pronounced in a similar way to the way it's written, then the Japanese might have trouble in that respect.
I was nigh on certain that it was a female name.
I guess I was wrong though...It isn't unisex either; just did a bit of research to confirm it.
My bad. I'm quite relieved, though. Scottish Lilly...doesn't mesh well.

No, you're still right. "Akira" is also the feminine form of Acair, but unrelated to the Japanese Akira, which is male or female.
