I was somehow assuming that the people who'd play with H scenes turned off would want to be rid of sex completely, not just the pictures of naked cripples.

Yeah our next project will be Katawa Shoujo 2 ~Impregnate them all~ which will include a lot of non-graphic, minimalistic consensual sex for procreation and a convoluted polygamy plot.

As an aside, the best sex scene I've read that I can remember right now was simply "We had sex" and then 7 pages of pillow talk and introspection that managed to tell more about the sex the emotions of the characters than descriptive narration could've.

I can already see from that title how you will achieve that minimalism. You are going to use something like the pokemon fight sequence: Protagonist used DIRTY TALK - It's super-effective.

I'm sure it would be easy enough to hint at the fact that something happened with the dialogue afterwards anyway. Like what Aura said, if you skip a scene in Act 1, as long as it wasn't one of the character introductions (so you're left thinking "Huh? Who's that?") then you can pretty much figure out what's going on.
Not sure how complex the story will get in future acts though.
But it wouldn't have to be a big hint. I'd hope most people would be able to figure out that *something* happened...

(In class the next day)

Shizune: "..."

Misha (too loudly): "Shicchan wants to know if you still have her underwear from last night Hicchan!"

(Everyone in class turns and stares at them)

A definite "HNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGH!" moment there...

Well, if you read dialogues with black screen it's still very suggestive to 'turn on the lights' anyway...

That's what they should call it! "Options>'Lights' Off [x]"

I would much prefer a "Lights Off" toggleable option over skipping a chunk of the game outright.

And all things said, it probably shouldn't be too hard to make a little 2-3 blob summary of any important details that occurred within the sex scene; this assumes that we're skipping specifically the sex part and not the entire scene in which it occurs. Even so, you already had quick blurbs that summarized each scene in Act 1; if you can summarize a scene like that, there should be no problem summarizing discussions that occurred during a blackout scene...

...so long as one of Hanako's scenes doesn't read off as "Hanako requested chocolate from Hisao."

There is nothing wrong with some smooth, warm, delicious chocolate to spice up erotic fiction.

I don't think it was 'advertised' as an H-visual novel. Not from my knowledge anyway.
The H scenes are just a means to enhance the game in both storytelling and, erm, 'customer satisfaction'. That's what I thought. I'm sure there are quite a large number of people who wouldn't be too bothered if the H scenes were removed, as long as it didn't affect the script too much, me included.

I gotta say, damn it's good to read something like that from one of the devs. I'd rather read that than "he put his thingy in her you-know-what and they did it for the first time"-type sex scenes. I'm looking forward to pillow talk and seeing how sex affects the relationships, that interests me a fuckton more than any cripple porn ever could.

not that I'll be turning off the sex scenes. 'cause I not only don't want to ruin the story, I wanna know how they do their thing.

and Akira, your "spoiler" thing made me laugh so hard I almost HNNGGGGGGGGGHed.

There will in fact be pillow talk after some of the scenes. (Except for Misha, she immediately falls asleep).
Oldie but goodie.
