Not a romantic pair but I could see Hideaki being pawned off on Miki for a while seeing as she's more like a boy than he is.

I actually have ideas regarding Iwanako and Hanako.

(Ideas that likely don't result in Iwanako x Hanako.)

Speaking of ideas... I've got a plot in my head for Meiko x Akira, but the damn thing isn't flowing because I suck at human interaction (and Akira's picking Meiko up in a bar).

Is this a alternate universe or running alongside another route?

The Iwanako and Hanako thing... the setting would give too much away, I think.

Meiko x Akira would be set concurrent to Hisao's hospitalization (so the story's started, but well before the story goes to Yamaku). If I can get the damn thing to flow.

Meiko x Akira...I don't even...How...Why...

They both live in the Sendai area, and I have a way to get them to interact.

(Protip: It involves shitty days for both of them, and them happening to hit up the same bar.)

I feel as if we know too little about Iwanako to be able to effectively ship with her.

One is socially awkward, the other is socially overbearing. Perfect match?

I have no idea what you're talking about. The button isn't there, but the tags work. To the point that I had to slip some tags in to break up the tag in your post when quoting it.

This has been my impression of the two of them from day one I bet Nurse gets drunk and starts crying to Mutou over how much he loves Meiko.

Somehow I have the idea in my head now that Mutou and Krieger from Archer are brothers.
