Yeah, as much as I like Saki, I can't see it either. She's not an "established" character. Then again, neither is Suzu nor Natsume.

Are we even sure that's the Shopkeep's name? The store is Othello's. He's likely not named Othello

He even more likely didn't just name his store that he alone works in and operates "Othello" out of love for Shakespeare.

Any of the choices that allow you to meet more characters while still providing some insight on our main six. The head of the newspaper club, Natsume, seems to fulfill this.

Akira and Miki.

Akira is just plain cute, and Miki is a runner, so... yeah. The only reason I didn't go with Misha is that in light of recent events, it has become clear that she's likely a lesbian, (please don't ask, I don't want to go over this again) and I think it would be cheesy to change that just for some DLC.

Of course, it wouldn't matter much since Emi would always be #1, (with Miki as a literal runner-up) but hey, a couple more interesting reads wouldn't hurt.

Good question, there's A LOT of good characters. I'm discounting Akira (sadly) due to the whole 'she has a boyfriend' thing, and for that to be broken up before the VN starts would just be a mind-screw when tallied against the rest of the routes. Misha would be a no due to how stilted the relationship would be, Miki... anyone who doesn't like maths is no friend of mine
Yuuko would be a very interesting route to play through, and she is adorable so I think that's a tick for me there. Meiko... tough call, but I'm going no as something about an 18(?) year old MILFin' it up just seems a bit weird to me. Plus, it's inferred that maybe she's starting to see someone else anyway.
Natsume would be alright, but can I have Naomi instead? And Suzu... I have a feeling that route would just be relentlessly frustrating, so no.

As for the non-listed characters:
- Kenji: I think my brain might implode. Plus, he'd need new music at some point.
- Hideaki: Underage, although if they did one a few years into the future I'M THERE.
- Saki: Despite being famous (in my head) for being ridiculously beautiful, I think the route would just be emotionally crippling. It would make the feels I got off of Emi's route seem like Christmas.
- Rika: Might be a good one, if I could download a third it might be this.
- Mutou: Same rules apply as Meiko. Plus, he's a teacher, so it wouldn't happen anyway. Shame. Same goes for Nurse. (And I'm not even taking into account Nomiya, HRUUURHRIUUGUGH)
- Iwanako: Would kind of have to be renamed. Kenkou Shoujo?
