Really though, having disabled family members, I think he'd have enough sense not to say anything rude to Hanako. From what little I've seem of him he mostly seems kinda clueless about the world. Yes, they do. Searching for "swimming prosthetics" (without the quotes) returns more than 3 million results. After all, normal diving flippers are a sort of prosthetic, so adapting the concept to someone who doesn't have legs isn't that much of a stretch.

My first immediate reaction/thought to imagining Hisao swimming is Hanako in a full wetsuit. That way her scars aren't shown, and... they can swim together? Cuddle in the water? Insert some fairly typical "Hanabro" ranting here, though more romantic sounding and virtuous.
