I don't think whether or not a distributor gets paid has any bearing whatsoever on whether he has distributed obscene material to minors. That's like saying a stripper who performs on the street for free can do so with legal impunity, but the moment she begins charging for the viewing privilege it suddenly is open to stricter scrutiny
the world would be a different place without you or me but who else would realize it?

I agree with you on every point but one. What the hell is good about 2girls1cup?
Guess who's back, back, back, back again.
Not that I ever made any great contributions, but oh well, too bad.

You're thinking of it wrong. In many countries ratings are required for any media sold. Most stores wouldn't even stock it. KS isn't sold. 4LS could give a crap less what happens to the game once the person downloading it gets that there's adult content in it.

The Internet is the internet. Where you lie and say you're 18 and can get on porn site. Don't pretend that the size warning is going to change any behaviors.

Though I'm of the mind KS is not adult as much as rather human in an artistic lens. I could see aspects of the game reflecting some of my teen life.

I just had this hilarious idea after reading Aura's post.

I'm sorry, but I had to brought this up--please take no offense.

KS: Mid-East edition

Hideaki will grow a beard, Kenji will carry an AK-47 at all times, and all female characters are to wear burkas. No exception
Sex? If they're all wearing burkas, then it's OK!

ALL ADULT CONTENT HAS BEEN REMOVED!

don't take it seriously, it's just my funny bone acting up again

Aura wrote:You are making an awful lot of assumptions and you are being rather dumb about them. The point exactly was that we can't go by "what the vast majority of the audience will define as adult content". I don't know what the vast majority of the audience defines as adult content, and neither do you. You claim that you do, but you are looking at the issue from the narrow subjective perspective of yourself.
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Please forgive me.
We have made a statement about the toggle being about sex scenes only (though it's not in big letters anywhere), and maybe the toggle text should've been "Disable sex scenes" for clarity, but what difference would that really have made?
Disable sex scenes(does not disable nudity) is much more specific and less open to interpretation than disable "adult content".
KS is a mature story, with or without sex scenes, anyone who downloads it gets a warning and should be aware of what they are getting into.
Agreed.
Beyond that point we do not give a fuck about anyone's sensibilities. That might sound harsh, but seriously complaining about cartoon nudity in a CRIPPLE PORN GAME is ludicrous.
I'm not complaining about the nudity. I'm complaining about the vagueness of your "disable adult content" checkmark. And frankly that's what the only useful point of the OP's post is, too.

If you meant "disable adult content", make it "adult content". (Given the situation, this is impossible.) If you meant "disable sex scenes", make it "sex scenes". (I'd say this is the best option.) If you meant neither, get rid of the damn thing.

I don't get what is wrong about nudity or sexuality. If anything, there might be something "wrong" with people caged in such stupidly self-repressive sets of morals

I don't get why is there even a need for "turn off adult scenes", I have never seen any "turn off violence" in other games when violence could be rightly considered way more objectionable.

KS depicts sex in a healthy way. People are used to a mindset in which any kind of art which has adult scenes is some sort of "pornography", also because stupid hypermoralist legislators turn cinema into "X" when you see too much skin, regardless it is related to the story or not.

KS is a game with sex scenes. Its integral to the game, and its absurd to turn them off, its absurd even to put an option to turn them off. And specially with KS being quite tasteful when dealing with sex and integrating it with the stories it tells, it makes it even more absurd to even consider that there might be any stupid option to turn sex off.

The only other game I've played with a similar (a 'natural'!) approach to sex was Fahrenheit. The sex scenes fit totally into the story, they were part of the story and perfectly so. And it was not a "adult sex game" at all, just as KS isn't hentai. I don't understand how humans can become so ashamed about natural and joyful parts of life and of love itself, so much that their minds get so rotten they feel like sex deserves some special status in which you can turn it off because it somehow offends you.

PS: Also I would totally let an underage person play this, it might even teach about sex in quite a healthy way.

Which scene does this refer to? I don't recall an actual aquarium in the game, so I'm guessing it's some kind of a weird metaphor?

Seriously, this bothers me way more than it should.

Yeah, that definitely confused me too. I just assumed he was talking about Up, Down, and Up Again, where you get a sprite of Emi topless immediately following their first sex scene, which is replaced by a throbbing picture of a sliced melon if you have "Disable adult content" on. No clue what that has to do with aquariums, but whatever.

A lot of games have a violence adjuster, a blood on/off option, or something similar. The first time I remember seeing such a thing was in Fallout back in 1997. The last two Modern Warfare games give you an option to skip the (gratuitous) terrorist atrocity scenes.

I have to completely disagree with you.

Carla was presented as a strong, intelligent female lead, without being overpowering. Which is why we then had an extended shower scene as she soaps her enormous breasts and then wanders around the apartment in her underwear. Near the end we had the absolutely bizarre, graphic sequence of Carla deciding she wants to fuck the undead zombie version of Lukas in an abandoned subway car. That's about as unnatural as it gets, it came out of nowhere, and was completely unnecessary. Even in the context of the story, it made no sense, not least of all because Carla had earlier commented that his body felt 'cold' what with him being a reanimated dead guy.

Lukas, meanwhile, lets us watch his pumping ass go up in down in perhaps the only 'natural' graphic sex scene when he sort-of reconciles with his ex girlfriend. Tyler, meanwhile, could be lured back to bed by his girlfriend but all we had there was a few moans and lingering shots of the furniture.

Better yet, with the price tag they're putting over that game, it also gave you the option to skip the game's entire series after '4' too!

Pshaw, you're just jealous you didn't think of the "clever" plot device of Main Character Zombie Sex before they did.

It's almost like you can pinpoint when that game starts to become a downward spiral of shit (when the word "cult" is brought up for the first time).

I haven't played Heavy Rain, but Cage's first game (Omikron: The Nomad Soul) had similar conjugal relations and an intriguing setting before going completely nuts in the second half.

You see Kay'l mounted by his wife Telis (both fully clothed, Kay'l in police armour) and that's about normal. Except, in the context of the story, Kay'l has surrendered control of his body to you, and Telis is possessed by a demon.
