Oh. My. God. I recognize the first group but from what series are the other "busness partners"? (The Italians are from Gunslinger Girl, I suppose).

Also, bishounen Hideaki. Someone draw him XD

Black Lagoon

Can't think of a fitting scarred woman tight now, and black guys and blonde guys with glasses are ubiquitious.

Edit:
Ah... I've never seen more than a few AMVs of Black Lagoon, so I'm not familiar with the side characters.

Those three you mention are still Black Lagoon characters: Balalaika, Dutch and Benny.

I like that last part (and the previous one), though Hisao is a hypocrite, commenting on Misha as Shizune's maid, while having Kenji as his best man.

Also this part from the previous one:
[Want to rock paper scissors for it?] I ask.

Shizune shakes her head. She unwraps the bread and tears it in half. I close my eyes.

(snip)

The broken halves of the veal cutlet bread fall to the ground as she leaps out of the bench and throws her arms around my neck.

"I love you, Hisao," she whispers.

Her words are slurred, and she's lisping badly. The vowels don't sound right, and her intonation is completely off.

It's the most beautiful thing i've ever heard.
For two reasons, first, it shows how Shizune has changed, instead of treating everything like a competition, herself vs the world (like in the original KS scene in her route, where they play for some food like that), she just (I think) wants to share it with Hisao, hence tearing it in half. (well, that, or I'm just reading too much into it :P )

Second, those final lines, how something hm, technically flawed (Shizune's speech) can be most beautiful thing in the world, and stuff. ;)

Edit: Also, what's "common-law marriage"? I promise to be more reasonable than Kenji about that, if you try to explain. (not that it's hard :P )

There's quite a bit of a difference there, since Kenji has never been in love with him.
Common-law-marriage
I don't think there is an institution like that in Japan.

Who knows, maybe he was? (after all, there was supposed to be Kenji's route, but it was cut from the final version, I believe) ;)
On more serious note, I meant that it could be awkward for different reasons, like if he'd start to rant about feminists during the wedding party or so. (though for me meeting him in KS was weird/awkward in general, most times, guess I just took it/him too seriously :P )

No.

(I realize you might be joking, but such things get quoted out of context all too easily.)

Am I the only one who was expecting to see a post-wedding porn scene in the other thread?

Huh. I was fairly sure I have read about it (maybe in some earlier draft or so) somewhere in those forums (and from one of KS creators).
I guess it's my memory tricking me then, and/or probably some out of context thing.

Loved every word of this story. Officially saved.

But I do have one (personal) peeve about this particular addition. The Pachelbel's Canon in D song. I'm not going lie. I kinda like it. It's a nice melody, but unfortunately far too many people have used it. But it's ok, just a personal thing.

Oh and I like the little addition of Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller. I thought that was neat.

"I HATE PACHELBEL WITH A PASSION! I DON'T EVEN KNOW HIS FIRST NAME! IT'S PROBABLY JOHANN! THEY'RE ALL NAMED JOHANN!"

Yeah, it's a bit overdone, but. . . you know, as overdone as it is, it's rather pretty :).

Group one is, of course, the cast of Black Lagoon and Balalaika.

Group two is the Social Welfare Agency from Gunslinger Girl.

Group three is a bit more obscure than that: they're the cast of an anime I really enjoyed a few years back called "Kure-Nai.". This demotivator sums it up pretty well.

My feels for the last one and half part were quite... Meh... I guess that as a married man, I'm not that teary-eyed about all that wedding ceremony thing, or formal engagement thing.

On the other hand, I found it well-written. I've especially appreciated the waiting-for-the-bus part, the atmosphere was well rendered. My only question would be for the description of the wedding: the classical music thing, plus mention of an altar, kind of hints toward a christian wedding, and I didn't get the feeling that Hisao and Shizune were christians.
99% completion.

They're not, but my understanding is that Western-style weddings are considered more modern than a traditional Japanese Shinto ceremony. Christianity has little to nothing to do with it: kinda like how Christmas in Japan is a purely secular holiday (though some would argue it's largely the same in the US, I'm not gonna go there). As fun as it would be to have Shizune in that big white kimono, I think that they'd go for a more modern ceremony.

My personal head-canon, however (which I didn't really mention in-story due to space and pacing constraints) is that this ceremony is the end of a long week of wedding events: possibly, there was a smaller Shinto-style ceremony earlier in the week for close friends and family only, and this wedding and reception is the "big ceremony" for everyone.

Love it, all I have to say.

The proposal scene was just prefect, had feels when Shizune actually spoke to tell Hisao she loved him.

I am actually one of the people the *loved* Shizune's route though this is nice. Especially seeing that she and Lilly have managed to reconcile. Though than again, as Akira said, all those two needed to do was grow both. (I kinda like imaginng them as being very cute together as small childeren).

Wedding scene was nice as well. Though now next time I replay Jigoro scences, I might stop to count his fingers. (Who's with me on the last one)
