A helpful tip for someone who has played a lot of VN's

When we play these games, we use them to escape reality. They're a fantasy.

So, when you insert characters in there that are like real life normal girls, you might think you're doing well, but you're not. I can see girls like Emi out in the real world any time I want, I don't spend time playing a game to deal with their shit some more.

Sorry. I like characters that are relatable and feel like real people.

If you want a fantasy, maybe pick up something that is based in a fantasy world rather than one centered on fictional characters based in OUR world. If you don't like it, don't play it.

While, yes, there is enjoyment and escape and fantasy in any novel, if that is all you take from any novel, you've missed half the meaning and all the point. There is wisdom and life in the pages and in the words, and the story is just the vehicle.

Now granted some do get far too wrapped up in the story, but to say that its entertainment value is all its worth is denying its substance.

Truer words have never been spoken. Not one work of fiction in any form of media - NOT ONE - ever got anywhere by having believable, realistic characters.

Like a lot of others have said before me, you're dismissing the entire experience.

For some of us, like me, this is the first time I read a VN. The feelings I had were genuine during the course of the VN. You can't tell me that I should just casually dismiss it, when it feels like it left a huge impact on me. Not everyone can just put up a middle finger to thoughts that keep circling in their head. For those people, they have to take their time and possibly keep thinking of what they just experienced. Only then could they move on.

In all seriousness though, I acknowledge that Katawa Shoujo is different from other visual novels and respect it for it. Not everything can be as awesome as a Rance game.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like the game, but we decided long ago not to make KS pure escapism. It seems to have worked fairly well, all considered.

I assumed that you meant "from someone" in the thread title. Hopefully I'm right.
