One friend wasn't interested solely because he's bad with reading and writing and hates anything with too much text. It's why he likes a lot of multiplayer PC games where people talk in shorthand and such. He did talk a bit about it with me though, and related it to the anime "The World God Only Knows" and made some funny jokes and stuff after I told him some of the choices and stuff in Hanako's path.
Several of my online friends who frequent my forum have all downloaded and tried it, and love it. Thankfully they approached KS with an open mind, like I did. It also helps that I really drove home the positive aspects of the game, such as the excellent writing and such, and assured them that, despite the initial team perhaps forming on 4chan and the original inspiration coming from 4chan, the VN itself is not associated with 4chan or anything. As some may have mentioned earlier, 4chan is a bit of a hotbutton that might make people damn KS before they even try it.
Haven't really talked about it with other IRL friends since, despite mentioning it both in person and on facebook, few have shown interest, if any. *shrug*
What did your friends do after introducing them to KS?

I doubt it was real (I hope it was) but I saw someone on /v/ posting a pic of an email they apparently sent to GabeN.
Would be interested in big names views, not just on KS, but VNs in general.

The very core of being a hardcore gamer is the be the best at a game... so a hardcore gamer mostly only play one game and try to be the best on it. I only played CS when i was in a clan so your reasoning is kinda of XDhmoonboi wrote:I would consider my friends hardcore if they play something else other than shooters all the time every time.yipyapper wrote:If someone plays FPS's for K/D, that's probably a hardcore gamer. If someone played Katawa once or twice through, that's casual gaming. Unless you are like me and must replay over and over again.hmoonboi wrote:Most of my friends are pretty casual when it comes to gaming, preferring FPS for the shooting and K/D.
I try sharing KS with the one that I know like a good story. I still can't get any of them to play it. -_-
But on the topic. Among the people that are in the anime and stuff. I have been kinda lucky. Most of them played KS without me even saying anything and the rest of them said they would check it out. Guess it helps that you have a reptation for reading good book. The other half of my buddys.... cant even read a normal book so this would be to muth text for them;O

Re: What did your friends do after introducing them to KS?
I actually fall into the category of "friend that was introduced to KS." My step-son mentioned it to me before, but like many others, I originally dismissed it because of the 4chan association. I, however, being of open mind, listened to his defense of the novel and later, when the full version was released, picked it up from him and began reading. I started with Shizune's arc, because at first I found her the most interesting (sorry, Rin). By the time I even made it to Act 2, I was hooked entirely. Hell, after finishing Shizune's arc, I felt like I was cheating on her as I replayed though another route. >.<""
I've tried to get a few online friends to read it, but with no success. As far as real life friends go, I don't have many that I would even consider admitting that I watch anime/read manga/enjoy Katawa Shoujo with, for fear of losing them as customers (I work in a convenience store). Perhaps I should try other social circles other than the Kongregate chatrooms...

Huge anime fan that is one of my closest friends: "Dude you know that's a major porno, rite? Who told you about this?"
Semi-stranger that lives 300km away: "WHO'S PLAYING WIOSNA IN THE BACKGROUND?" (during group voice call)

<Ascension>: "I laughed, cried, vomited in my mouth a little, and even had time for marshmallows afterwards. Well played, Xanatos. Well played."
