What display setup do you use for reading KS?
CLICK HERE for instructions on preserving aspect ratio in fullscreen (AKA no more fat characters)
For me, it a Dell E772p CRT with fullscreen @ 100hz
However, an LCD with a native 600p resolution is my second choice - my netbook has a 1024x600 which is quite useful for mobile VN goodness.
If you have an LCD/Plasma/OLED and are making a post, I encourage you to also mention what your screen's native resolution is.
DISCLAIMER: I intentionally use BOTH a CRT and an LCD in this "DSi XXXL" dual-monitor setup, (the LCD is 1280x1024) and recognize the benefits and detriments of both technologies. So PLEASE do not turn this into a CRT vs LCD flamewar. (of course if you were to include modern non-pentile OLED, then any arguments for LCD tech is pretty much moot. )

I'm using a LG E2350VR-SN 23" LED with a native resolution of 1900*1080, windowed.
I don't like stretching, so I am keeping it neatly windowed.

LCD/Plasma/OLED - fullscreen, preserve aspect ratio for me, but sometimes I will window it for convenience's sake. Running a 22" LCD @ 1680x1050.

How do I maintain aspect ratio and still have it in fullscreen? Other games will stay as 4:3 even when in fullscreen mode on this 1920x1080 monitor, but this one stretches out. There's no option in the scaling part of my graphics card settings (ATI HD 5000 series) and my monitor's only two settings are "Widescreen" and "Auto" - it's on the latter which detects other 4:3 games correctly but not this one.

This is a discrete desktop GPU, right? If so, firstly update your drivers to the newest version from http://amd.comTeclo wrote:How do I maintain aspect ratio and still have it in fullscreen? (newer versions have a new user interface, so if you want to follow the instructions you NEED the newer drivers)
Then follow the instructions in this topic:

Don't be ashamed. I've seen it happen on other places as well, making me wonder where the heck they're getting 1900x1080 displays. This is the first time I've ever been able to find out that it's just a typo.Sluna wrote:Nintendo Maniac 64 wrote:Derp. I always do that mistake, so yes *is ashamed* :<

This is a total noob question but how do you get the game into full screen preserved ratio? I just got super stretchy or windowed.

If you have an Nvidia (Geforce/GTX) GPU:
XP: http://nvidia.helpmax.net/en/display/di ... ect-ratio/
Vista & newer: http://nvidia.helpmax.net/en/display/di ... and-later/
If you have an Intel GPU:

Re: What display setup do you use for reading KS?
1900x1200 LCD, I play it fullscreen but preserve aspect ratio.
I also prefer to use a gamepad since I can sit back from the screen and comfortably relax to read. My monitor is rather large, too, so reading a VN up close is a pain. If I need to use my keyboard to advance, I'll either put it in my lap, or I'll window the game so I can read comfortably closer to the screen.
For anyone who has trouble with aspect ratio in fullscreen, check and see if your monitor has settings. Mine actually has 3 modes: stretch, aspect ratio, and 1:1
I also know that some screens simply do not have the ability to switch between. Sometimes they only know how to stretch, which is really unfortunate.

CRT 1024x768 windowed with me sitting really awkwardly on the edge of my seat and probably being way too close to the monitor without realizing it.

Then why aren't you running fullscreen? Not only would you not have to be awkwardly on the edge of your seat, but CRTs can even display 800x600 natively.ardiel wrote:CRT 1024x768 windowed with me sitting really awkwardly on the edge of my seat and probably being way too close to the monitor without realizing it.

Re: What display setup do you use for reading KS?
Didn't think about it. It opened that way so I left it that way. And I was more on the edge of my seat from feeling really intense. I tend to get really close to things that take my undivided attention as if I can absorb them better that way.Nintendo Maniac 64 wrote:If you have a CRT, then why the heck aren't you running fullscreen? Re: What display setup do you use for reading KS?
I chose LCD Full Screen (Preserve Aspect) since I guess it's the closest match to how I play. What I do is use Splashtop Remote to connect to my PC with my HP Touchpad, and then run the game in fullscreen and play it on the Touchpad. It works so well, I might as well be playing a native Android version.
EDIT: Forgot to add, native res on the Touchpad is 1024x768. Also, if I feel like multitasking, I forego the Touchpad and play the game windowed on my main monitor, a BenQ E2400HD (24" 1920x1080 LCD).
