I discovered KS a few days ago and expected another hentai game for short-time entertainment...yet, I was most positively surprised about how that demo did not contain any adult material at all, but even did not make me care about that circumstance because the story and characters were gripping me tightly (ahem, in a spiritual way!) - so, no doubt about that, I'm going to look forward to the final version of this game!
While the devs are developing, I wondered if any of you knew any other games that bear similarities to KS, so, dating sims with real story but also adult scenes (I'm not talking about those meet'n'fuck botches here) - preferably free ones. Could you name some of those you personally enjoyed yourselves?
Hentai VNs where the writers are actually trying to give you a decent story?
...I can't think of any, no...but then again, I've never explored too deeply.

I'm sorry, the only VN I read so far that I consider as good or better than Katawa Shoujo doesn't contain any adult scenes...
If you're willing to give it a try anyway, have a look at Ever17.
A lot of the english-translated VNs I've managed to find are usually just hentai scene after hentai scene. I only remember one or two games that actually don't consider sex that important to the story, but they're not as interesting as KS in my opinion. They're also not free like you requested.
Being deaf has its advantages...such as I don't have to run into a burning building because I can't hear the screams for help.

And now that someone else pointed out the big pink elephant in the room instead of me.... .....I recommend a look at Snow Sakura. It's a simple story about a boy being forced to move north to rural Hokkaido from Tokyo and he had to adjust to life there. It has decent hentai scenes but only about two or three each girl. Comedy and actual romance are big parts of the story so if you like funny moments, both slapstick and witty, you might enjoy this.
Other less than decent stories I remember with less than decent hentai scenes would be Shuffle! or Da Capo 1 & 2.

Seeing as I'm planning on playing KS with the "adult" scenes off, I'm interested in finding some VNs that don't focus on sex, or outright don't have any. There's more than enough pronz on the internet for that anyway...

Damn...totally forgot about that game. That was one trippy VN. CGs, especially the hentai ones, were gorgeous with interesting storylines too. If I were to put it in a category...I'd probably call it a black comedy.

I actually got Swan Song at the same time I got KS. Yeah, its a little too heavy on the untimely relevance, though it does have some powerful scenes. I'll remember that little girl pleading for help, trapped in the near-submerged building and subsequent bloom of blood when it collapses for the rest of my life... ;;_;;
