Edit: It just hit me, what if the prank is that at least some of that post isn't a joke? They build up more and more ridiculous things to make us think "okay, they're just fucking with us," then BOOM! When the full game comes out, some of that paid content is real. Paying for new characters, a Kenji/Misha route, maybe the webstore. It seems plausible.

I would have bought all the expansions and the extra content. In perfect honesty such a great game coming free is already a bonus in itself, if I were to have to pay for it, it would just mean I'd be paying for something well deserving of my dough anyway.

if you live in uk, go to Nationwide, they'll set you up with a debit card easy enough. heck, they offered me a credit card ages ago, turned em down.
