Katawa Shoujo cross-stitch
Katawa Shoujo cross-stitch
or "How to spend ~$15 and ~150 hours of your life"
pattern size is 15"x9" ~29000 stitches, 30 floss colors. It took 2 months to complete.
After my stroke a few years ago I started doing cross-stitch as therapy to help regain my motor control and help my, now horrible, memory. I cannot draw but I wanted to do some sort of KS fan project, so I decided on this. I used PC-Stitch to convert the wallpaper images from the Shimmie into cross-stitch patterns, redrew parts and altered colors to make the design more apparent with the lower resolution. This took almost a week before I was satisfied (still not perfect).
It's not easy to see, but everyone's hair has at least 3 colors. This is my biggest disappointment...the colors looked separate enough when I bought the floss but once stitched they blend together too much and you cannot tell. The medium and dark greens of the skirts are also just a little too close together. Along a similar line, I made Hanako's hair just a little too bright purple. If I were to do this again I'd try to fix the colors. It looks pretty good hanging on the wall as-is though.

Wow. That is all kinds of awesome. I wonder how many decades it would take to do a hug pillow.
But seriously, very impressive.

This looks really great - especially if you take time to examine the details.
I did my last bit of stitching in grade school, but I still remember how long it took me to make something half the size and a lot less intricate.

Wow, yeah, that's great!
Re: Katawa Shoujo cross-stitch
Resized the pic on photobucket so it stopped cutting off half of Misha.
thanks for the kind words

Amazing, simply amazing stuff.
Really it looks like a ton of work has gone into that, and it looks great.
'Grats, I really like that.

Heh, 150 hours? Yeah, I bet you see more details than us casual viewers after putting that much time in doing it.
Re: Katawa Shoujo cross-stitch
Details, hell, on the raw image from the camera (3.6 meg) you can see individual stitches After photobucket shrunk it down to 200k it doesn't look anywhere near as nice. The version I uploaded to PB was 900k after I shrunk it a bit.
I'm going to try to get a better picture uploaded. At first I didn't think the PB one was that bad but the more I look at it, I don't like it. It's too blurry. I don't know anything about PB but there should be a way to get it to accept the original resolution. I'll post a link if I manage to get it working.

Not to be rude, it's very good, but this is a prime example of why the Devs think we're all fucking crazy.
