Is katawa Shoujo the gateway drug of visual novels?
Re: Is katawa Shoujo the gateway drug of visual novels?
KS was my first VN, well the demo at least, and I gotta say I've played quite a few titles since i first tried KS but there's only been 2 that surpassed it, lol and I played the demo so I'm betting when the full thing comes out it'll be epic.

Out of interest, what were the two that surpassed it in your opinion?

Ever 17 Out of Infinity and Utaweruromono. Ever 17 takes 1st place and Utaweruromono is awesome as well had a tough time deciding which was best.
Oh btw Utaweruromono as gameplay, and a non hentai version for the PS2, Ever 17 is hentai-free altogether.

no KS was not my first VN however KS is the one that made me continue reading VNs. My first two were read simply because a friend suggested them, did not like'em honestly nor the VN concept. But KS has peeked my interest in the genre.

I played a considerable amount of VNs before I came across KS but it´s definitely one of the best I´ve ever played. I´m sure it´ll be solely on the top when I´ve played the full game!

KS was the first VN I played and I have played a few others since then. (And seen a few others in their Anime adaptions.)
So far KS is the second best of those, only surpassed by Ever17, but that's no reason to be ashamed, because Ever17 is simply awesome.

Nothing to be seen here. Do check out my little dabbling in the art of words, though.

Correction, Ever 17 was perfection, I'm just hoping KS beats perfectionMirage_GSM wrote:KS was the first VN I played and I have played a few others since then. (And seen a few others in their Anime adaptions.)

Lol thank you suddenly I found myself reading what I already knew.

While not my first VN by a long shot, this game is definitely up there at the top when it comes to quality. I've played a huge variety, some more focused on the porn, some more on the story.
A short list of VN's I highly recommend.
Snow Sakura - (Great love story imo, first VN to actually make me laugh pretty hard at times. Starts off a little slow though.)
Princess Waltz - (For those of you who liked Fate/Stay Night, this VN might interest you. This game has rpg elements such as a card battle system, and stat leveling etc.)
Family Project - (Another great story plot. its also really long for those of you who want to get your moneys worth.)
