The funny thing is, if KS had originated across the pond (or some similar eroge that you'd expect to be mindless ecchi fetish fuel but ended up being a sweet and dignified story instead), my first thought would be, "This isn't bad for being Japanese." :roll:

But, on the flip side of that idea, the Japanese VN companies have to a greater or lesser extent established a track record of pandering to the people who want to buy mindless ecchi fetish fuel. So wether you call it just smoke or a raging bonfire there is IS a bit of truth to your initial idea.

You just said what was in my mind! The more diverse the fanbase is, the better :D. It would be also cool if we saw some Japanese members on these forums as well, they might have criticism/opinions/constructive things to say as well...
