It’s time to preserve Katawa Shoujo!

I’ll be direct with you: this game has a magnificent story, only comparable to the story of its creation. The studio won’t release more games, and while the game is currently on Steam, HOWEVER, I feel that a game like this, if it’s free, would be cool to make open source, so it can be preserved or even made easier to port to other platforms like Xbox with UWP. It could even lead to remastered versions, with cinematics upscaled to 4K or the soundtrack in surround sound.

In any case, let me know your thoughts.

Yep, I’m aware of the project, but as the repository mentions, the project is not associated with the game’s original studio. The idea is to preserve the original code and the raw original files.

KS:RE serves the purpose as well (and the Game Boy port, for example, is based off it).

As with any other Ren’Py game, KS source code is pretty much easy to get by just using some tools on the original game files. You may want to write an email to 4LS about open sourcing the original code but they probably won’t bother (and again, KS:RE already exists, so they don’t even need to).
