Since my question has been answered, this thread can now be closed.

@Eurobeatjester: We cannot force the developers to liberate the game if they doesn't want to. We have to accept their stance.

@Megumeru: It's because the wiki supports and distributes only free software. KS was on the list for some time already simply because I wasn't aware that there is game code involved.

@FelOnyx: Correct, but it's good to specify that free is meant in terms of freedom, not just free to play. The software has to follow the four freedom rules before it can be accepted to the wiki.

@Eurobeatjester: Correct. :)

@Notguest: You need to have control over your computing. This means that you should know what the program does and be able to modify it if you decide to. In v1.0, the UI code (game/*ui_*.rpyc) contains raw Python code (276.5 kB once decompiled). You can take a look at this code using unrpyc.

Oh, I know all about that. But I don't think it's a good idea to discuss here. I assumed you wanted official source code with the original whitespace and comments for some reason.

But yeah, Renpy isn't exactly hard to reverse engineer if that's your concern.

Why are you hyping up like the KS source code is some majestically wonderful hidden supercode?

And why would you need it? Its renpy, its basic to code in the first place, theres not much you can learn from REing it that you cant learn from the renpy documentation.

Oh and its okay delta, my code is messy and uncommented too, its not just you guys!

It's not about needing KS's source code. The idea behind the free software movement is that everything should be open source. Many of its advocates refuse to use any non-free software, so OP's problem is that they can't read KS, and can't recommend KS to each other.

They're basically the vegans of computing.
<Aura> would you squeeze a warm PVC bottle between your thighs and call it "manaka-chan"
<Suriko> I would do it if it wouldn't be so hard to explain to my parents

Liberate the game? Liberate?

Really?

Not aware game code is involved in a game? What?

So a circlejerk of games you want to be able to modify and sell without repercussion, got it.
Guessing youre too lazy to come up with your own ideas or something.

This makes so little sense im on the verge of not replying because of how retarded it is.
Its obvious what the program does.
And of course it contains raw python, its a python game. And why would you bother wanting to look at the UI code? A virus cant be effectively hidden in there due to the way it executes and its association with the other .rpyc files.
And what point does that even make?

Oh, and if I come across as aggressive, I probably am being. As a developer myself people like your group really irk me.

How about we stop resorting to sheer namecalling before I decide that it'd be fair to reciprocate with some extra oomph, hmmm?
Shattering your dreams since '94. I also fought COVID in '20 and '21, and all I got was this lousy forum sig.

Agreed. I expected it to be locked as soon as a dev responded.

The whole idea of software needing freedom is a bit silly though, isn't it?

Indeed. I'm picturing little CD-ROM's with arms and legs frolicking about in a meadow.

Help?
