KS Voice Acting? Narrations?

So I'm deciding to bite the bullet on this one. For a few days or so I've been doing something I discovered that I like. See, it all started on skype.. I was reading Katawa Shoujo, to people, and at first, it was purely casual.

But then I set the game down for a long time. I tried doing it again recently and, well, I was essentially acting. Reading out Hisao's lines as him, giving his thoughts and speaking voice. I did this for several people and all of them have given me positive feedback. Some said I was great, some said I was awesome, and others.. well, good.

I am conflicted about this. I'm a novice with this sort of thing, but I think I have a knack for it, for so many people ( at least ten) to give me nothing but support and advice. I even was given an idea to try doing this with other people with all the characters having their own actor. Thinking about it, I decided that I may as well ask around on the forums and get something more out of this.

I'm entirely willing to demonstrate, or do this with other people, even giving out my skype details if people fancy it. So here goes.

( By the way, first time on the forums that I'm posting. I've been around to see Thanatos' fan-fiction with Akira and some others things. Just nothing serious. )

"Was", they gave up. Not enough of them had the spare time.
I had a conversation with Lillypichu (Misha voice) a while ago and she said she hadnt recorded any new scenes since the prologue/act 1 releases. (This was like a month or so after)

I'm still hopeful someone will throw me a bone here. I would just be thrilled to be able to participate in something like this.. but you saying that can be a little dampening. D'ah well, right? I'm still leaning towards getting something going, even if it's just for fun.

I did a snappy-brief search through fan fiction for "voice acting." Nothing conclusive on the first page, only hints at it, or some mentions that one would be nice. I'm a bit lazy right now but, I think I'm ready for anyone who's up for a demo with me. Thing is though, is that there's not many male characters in the game, only four coming off the top of my head. Hisao, Mutou, the nurse, and Kenji. Two of those I can do! But again, I'm an amateur, and I've never had experience with this before.

I'll remind you all that I can give out my skype details to anyone who's interested; nothin' to lose.

Certainly! But if this has to do with sounding girly, I just don't think I have the voice for that.

By the by, just for the record! If you really want to hear my voice, my skype's username is: Fortporta. Look for a wine-glass. I'm open and ready for just about anyone, so I don't mind someone dropping in all of the sudden.

I'm not exactly sure what your purpose in doing this is, but if it's something you intend to post somewhere you'll need to get permission from the devs (as Katawa Seiyu had).

That said, I've posted several times that I read this game (and a number of other VNs) to a blind friend of mine, and thus developed voices for all the characters (many of them imitations of other voice actors/celebrities, e.g., Vivien Leigh for Lilly, Alyson Stoner for Emi, Jeremy Irons for Mutou, George Takei for Nurse). It's definitely fun, and if there is ever another such project I'd be interested in participating.

Maybe at first it would just be on skype, rehearsing and messing around. When it comes down to posting something somewhere, though, I'll ask when I know for sure it's something I can do. Right now this is more of a hobby for fun.. but if it ever gets to the point that I have all the voices ( we'll ) I'll need, then of course.

tl;dr, absolutely, when I get to that point. Interesting how your voices for characters are impressions of celebrities, though!

Well, maybe Fan Works or discussions, but you won't find anything about dubing in the forum dedicated to written stories.

Please keep in mind that it's fine if you do this for yourself, but if you plan to publish the results in any way you should get permission from 4LS.
