Blind Artist

Post by Liminaut »

I actually knew a blind artist a few years back. She worked in colored pencils, making some pretty interesting semi-abstract work. She had lost her eyes when she was seven, so she still had memories of what colors were and how things looked, but still the images were essentially from inside. The way she did it was 1) keeping her colored pencils absolutely organized -- she had to be amazingly disciplined about everything in her life, keeping things straight 2) she had a grid she could overlay to get a sense of where things were 3) an absolutely amazing spacial memory, and being able to remember what the works were from one working session to the next.

So being a blind artist isn't *that* impossible. Just hard.

Whoever said it was impossible?
I love the interpretation of Pac-Man where he's a just a lowly worker retrieving golf balls left all over the course by the rich masters and the ghosts are all previous workers who got conked on the head and killed by incoming golf balls in the line of duty.

Not harder than getting one who physically normal* who thought he can't do art.

I simply want to say it's not hard at all whether you have the drive to do it despite obstacles.

Actually, I want to prove this too. Try doing any art while can't see.

*I hate this word.

I want to make Thai Translation of KS alone and protesting with this signature.

Unofficially Demanding. Temporary even-more malfunctioned in English Grammar.

Introducing one of the few thread of it's kind that bring the world together. Wait, Whatever then.

Art isn't just drawing, painting, or digital creations. It can also come in the form of architecture and, perhaps more obviously, sculpture. Considering that braille is a tactile language along with deaf/blind signing, and sculpture is essentially a tactile art form, it's not a huge leap to consider it as something that could be accomplished by a disciplined blind artist. One could also consider photography an art form manageable by a blind artist--one was depicted in an NCIS episode: "In The Dark" from 2007.
