A poll. most likely. I'm pretty sure there are some fanfics that the community as a whole could reccomend.

Unfortunately, polls here can be easily sockpuppeted, and more reliable methods are not nearly as convenient.
Anyway, if you look way back somewhere in this thread or in its predecessor, the matter has already been brought up and discussed. The only quality bar on the forums is set at "really, really horrible crap that has not been nuked on the spot exclusively because I don't believe in unpublishing".

Shattering your dreams since '94. I also fought COVID in '20 and '21, and all I got was this lousy forum sig.

Alternatively, people could just suggest what they believe to be some of the better stuff here.AMerePerson wrote:A poll. most likely. I'm pretty sure there are some fanfics that the community as a whole could reccomend.
Ce ne sont pas une signature.

Favoritism breeds arguments. We have enough of those without inciting them intentionally.AMerePerson wrote:Note : I'm not OP, just a person asking a question.
What would people think of a "best works" section?
That section would include the fanfics with the highest acclaim in the community.
Some examples could be Sisterhood or the Pseudo-Suzu route

Even more alternatively, how about making a different thread for that sort of thing? No talking in the library you know...Lianam wrote:Alternatively, people could just suggest what they believe to be some of the better stuff here.AMerePerson wrote:A poll. most likely. There's an option to sort threads by viewcount. Not an entirely unbiased method, but starting another thread where people would scream at each other for having subjectively inferior tastes isn't much better. On top of that, it's usable without making a compilation of THE BEST.bhtooefr wrote:One problem with things like that is, what's a fair way to decide that?
I wrote a Fluttershy x Tails once. It was really good, swer.
Then I wrote some KS fiction, and being not as stellar, it at least exists.

Mirage told me the other day how viewcount is an inaccurate method for measuring quality, it's really easy to fake views, and not every hit on a thread means that someone read it.651 wrote:AMerePerson wrote:What would people think of a "best works" section?

Well, they said the same thing about the librar, and nothing terrible happened here. Also I don't think i ever saw a flame war in the forums here
A fan fiction discussion thread, could be called Yamaku's literature club or something. But i don't see.much point for a unique thread because people already discuss fan fics in the fic's threafs.

Well, not including any kind of valuation was basically the condition to allow us to even start this archive, so it's kind of moot to discuss whether we should start doing it.
