This was brilliant, I loved it so much. There were a few scenes that made me teary due to the writing and timing of everything, like when Hanako says she can't be Hisaos girlfriend anymore ( Which by the way was completely un-expected, I knew she had a panic attack, I just didn't think she would dump Hisao like she did ) and the scene in the Arcade hit me hard (For different reasons).

This was my first Fan-fic I have read fully and it was genuinely brilliant, certainly one I will recommend to anyone who just hasn't got enough of Hanako (My Waifu)

I was thinking of writing a Hanako epilogue but, in all honestly, nothing I ever write could be as good as this. Great job on this, wish it never ended but meh.

Thanks.
It makes me wonder if there's some sort of exercise or therapy that could help her stretch and make her damaged skin more flexible.
Most burn victims have to go through stretching therapy where they have to learn how to regain use of their burned parts and it's apparantly excruciatingly painful. Later on, I believe, there are stretch exercices that can make those parts less stiff and there are lotions that can moisturize the skin in order to make it less dry and more supple.

It does make me wonder if she went through that sort of therapy, or if she was just too depressed to care/bother with it.

I'm thinking it would be cute if she and Hisao made a deal. He'd start exercising if she'd agree to start going to stretching therapy.

I'd imagine she's already been to it. Usually if you're in major accidents they at least start therapy before you leave the hospital (depending on the accident.)

As for her being depressed, she probably was, with her parents being dead and all, but it seems like her entire world didn't shatter until she actually got out of the hospital and was treated horribly by all her old friends.

I think she's already been through it. As Oddball said, patients pretty much HAVE to do this as part of their revalidation. They're not released from the hospital until they're capable of moving again and the fact that Hanako seems capable of using her right arm and bending over a pool table indicates she's been through physical therapy even though it was probably hell for her.

Later on, I don't think "stretching therapy" is what you imagine it to be. It's more like morning exercises. Like plenty of Yamaku students (Natsume for example) probably take part in.

That said, you might have to ask Selim (if he's still around) for the details.

I guess that's what i wasn't sure of, whether it was something she went through for a few months after the accident, or whether it was a long term process.

I seem to recall a few references in the VN to her being able to run faster than Hisao, So she does seem pretty agile.

During her revalidation she had stretching therapy in order to be able to use her burned body parts again. That's one variation. In the morning she might do stretching exercises in order to loosen herself more. That's the other variation.

Also, being able to sprint faster than Hisao isn't much of a challenge, seeing that sprinting is double trouble for Hisao. Both overexcertion and accidental collisions could kill him. I think Hanako's the opposite of agile. She's non-atlethic and one half of her body is slightly stiffer than the other, so I think her natural movement would be kind of awkward.

Ah yes, my dear Hanako. Still can't get enough of her. I had the coolest dream last night. Well it was more like this afternoon since it was some time before I woke up to go to work. Maybe I was Hisao in it, or maybe I was just myself. I was walking with a girl, who very much resembled Hanako. We were walking through a school hallway holding hands. Now I have to describe how it was, cause it's not what you think. I was on the right side, with my left arm around Hanako and she was leaning her head on my shoulder. My right hand reached across to her in front of us, which she held with her left hand cause her right arm was around me. Pretty boss, huh? I wish I had more dreams like that. They certainly would be romantic and peaceful.

I don't know about romantic dreams... You always wake up, and the better the dream, the more you wish you didn't. At least when your life sucks.^^

What's sad is that if you were in Japan, that would probably earn you dirty looks from passersby.

Honestly, I love Japanese pop culture, but I don't think I could handle living in a society where you can't put your arm around your girlfriend or exchange a quick hello/goodbye hug or kiss.

Something I think a lot of us don't get, Westerners and all. It's easy to imagine and write about the KS universe, but hard to grasp all the little cultural norms.

Also, I really gotta stop re-reading this, but one does not simply forget Katawa Shoujo

The taboo on public affection is probably among the easier things for you to get used to. What would really get you might be things like the Japanese habit of prioritizing company over family, the notion that people's sense of self-worth is not determined by themselves, but by the group they're part of and that "love" as we know it is somewhat of a western import product that has only started becoming a factor in marriages in the last two generations or so.

KS itself doesn't really go out of its way to touch on all the little cultural Japanese norms and the main cast pretty much behaves like westerners would. This is probably for the better since for many readers the characters' actions might not make sense if they were strongly influenced by Japanese cultural norrms. (the one girl where traditional Japanese values come into play is Lilly and lots of people had trouble grasping her actions in her route as evidenced by the active Lilly thread right now) This is probably somewhat justified by the fact Hisao and co are of a generation that has already been fairly strongly influenced by western culture.

That said, if I'd ever write a sequel to this story, it's pretty likely Lilly's parents would be introduced at some point or another and Japanese cultural norms would probably play a bigger role with them than with Hisao and his friends.

Ummm, figure of speech.

This is the most ironic part of it to me. All the characters but her (and Akira) are 100% Japanese; she's got a mother from a different culture, yet she's the one behaving in the most traditionally Japanese manner.
