Re: Thoughts on the H-scenes?
I do believe that the entire thing could have been done without feeling lacking by excluding them completely. However, I do feel that it added quite a bit in such a small period, I say small period considering the majority of story lines do not have any until typically quite near the end. In a visual novel like this, that can inspire such deep feelings for someone. You learn about another "person" and eventually try to become more intimate with that person and the "H-scenes" are just that... Intimate, not simply porn, not hentai, but actually a display in intimacy. Very well thought out and planned, had they been any different, like an actual scene of hentai, they would have surely taken away from the story and such, so in my opinion, very glad they are there.
Re: Thoughts on the H-scenes?
Beheheh. That's why I don't talk about the game's content when I recommend it to people. (Especially not that part... People aren't gonna understand that scene unless they see it in context.)Steinherz wrote:I recommended KS to my friends as well. The only one who actually downloaded it immediately started laughing when I told him about Emi.Banryu wrote:To be honest the first ones I saw caught me completely out of left field. After 2-3 hours of reading and no mention of anything remotely intimate, much less sexual (I started with Hanako by the way), I began to get the impression that it wasn't going to be in there at all. When the sex scenes finally did show up it felt pretty out of place, but looking back, they've really settled in for me and I feel that they ultimately weren't, especially for what they brought to Hanako's story and character.
I've been recommending KS to people, occasionally trying to entice my female friends by saying that it has 'nudity, yes, sex, yes, but no fanservice'... And I think maybe that's not entirely accurate, some of those scenes are pretty indulgent... Shizune, I'm looking at you. However, I still feel confident recommending it despite the sex even to my female friends, and I definitely think they work well for the story and feel more or less natural (at least, compared to 99.9% of other dating sims / porn games out there).
Also, I feel like the worst person on the planet for laughing as hard as I did at the censor image for Hanako's scene.
Shame on 4LS for knowing how goddamn funny that is. =w=
To quote him "You have anal with a loli? Really?" I was like:
"That's not the point, and that scene is more comedy than anything else"
I just tell them to go download it and ignore the alarm bells that go off in their head when they realize what it is. =w=
Holy shit how do I practically have 50 posts already

I didn't tell him about it. He found that scene by himself. I just told him that Emi is likely the first one he'll end up in a route with.Banryu wrote:Beheheh. A lady friend on Second Life asked about sex scenes when I suggested she try it, and she kinds eek'ed when I told her. But yeah, I don't see any point in even bringing it up unless asked. I mean hell, Titanic has one topless scene, and a pretty steamy sex scene. You don't hear people going on that its a porno flick do you? Seems like VN's get a raw deal sometimes.

Games in general get a shit deal there. Show even a female nipple and people go nuts. Male's okay, for some stupid reason. (Once again, sex is a thing. Humanity NEEDS to get over it. xD)
I think people don't go on about Titanic though because it's a horrible film full of blandness, cliches, and completely uninteresting characters undergoing worthless events. In short, nobody can even pretend to care.

Re: Thoughts on the H-scenes?
For VNs, it really depends. For KS, some of the girls do have Lily's drive, herself included of course. Hanako and Rin are about the only ones who are non-sexual in that way.pandaphil wrote:Ahh, that explains it.Steinherz wrote: I wasn't wrong. XD

Re: Thoughts on the H-scenes?
Thats an interesting question in itself. Do Rin and Hanako have normal sexual drives, or are have they just suppressed that part of their personalities so deeply that they seem to barely exist? Rin maybe, since she has more important things on her mind. But Hanako? I can see her having a lot of pent up passion just waiting to burst out. A bit like in her bad ending.
Or maybe its just wishful thinking on my part.

Re: Thoughts on the H-scenes?
My guess is that she didn't give much thought into sex as a whole. Personally, I came from a boys school in middle school. When I got to high school, girls was not something "special". (Of course, didn't help that I was, and still is, a gamer.) I suspect Hanako diverts a lot of her passion into her reading, visualising how the characters would actually go about with the plot. And.... I don't know her genre preference. Fiction? Non-fiction? Fantasy? History? Big gaps there.pandaphil wrote:Thats an imteresting question in itself. Re: Thoughts on the H-scenes?
The only book we see her reading (well the only one we're given the title of) is Life of Pi. Which is fiction (and a pretty good book, I need to find where my copy went XD)YZQ wrote:My guess is that she didn't give much thought into sex as a whole. I think at some point she was reading one called Dance Dance Dance too. I don't know what that book is about, though.Steinherz wrote:The only book we see her reading (well the only one we're given the title of) is Life of Pi. @Banryu
Googled it quickly, came up with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_Dance_Dance_(novel)
Seems like a fairly interesting premise, I think it's safe to say Hanako is into ficiton =)

Good. Fiction is best genre.

Re: Thoughts on the H-scenes?
In some cases it was like, "NO! STOP!" While in others it was more, "Why is this a thing?". In Shizune's and Rin's Act 4 h-scenes it feels slightly empty and tacked on, however in Shizune's case, restricting information! AAARRRGGH! It seems slightly oversexualized, however. Tell me, did you know six people who had an 86 centimeter bust and wheighed 100 pounds? Unlikely!
It was all more important to the story and less profane in the Act 3 scenes though. Certainly intimate and emotional, for the most part.

Better question: Did you know ANYONE you were weirdly obsessed with enough to even know their bust size and weight at all?0rac1eF0rk wrote:In some cases it was like, "NO! STOP!" And there's that word again...It doesn't mean what you think it means. And hell, sometimes people just get it on for fun. Nothing wrong with that.
